I'm a bit confused about whether I should be expecting a cheque from the ATO or not. Can anybody help?

- I got the $1000 before Christmas.

- As a single mum, I get Centrelink payments and with my payment in the week of March 11, I got $900 "Single Income Family Bonus".

I was assuming that was it but last week I got a letter from the ATO about the stimulus package, saying it had been deposited to a bank account or a cheque had been mailed out. (I work on a casual basis, so I did have income declared on my taxes). Are they talking about the money that was deposited through Centrelink on March 11 or should I have another cheque coming? The bank account that last year's taxes went into has been closed. I have been having lots of trouble with my mail redirection so I might have to chase it up if there is a cheque floating around somewhere.

If you received a letter yes you will be getting the 900 tax payment.

My account was also closed and they just sent it to me in the mail. Are you still at the same address you were at last financial year? If you are it will turn up in the mail, otherwise give the ato a call to give them your new addy.

I recieved my 900 payment

Then a few weeks later the letter came to say that the money had been deposited or a chq had been mailed out, that was just notification that the money had been paid not that another payment was coming. Im assuming thats what you got too

Yes, I got a letter saying it had been paid ... but then I started to wonder if they were referring to the money I got way back in March (the amount was the same). Perhaps Centrelink people got theirs first?

If the stimulus pament was made in April/May as the newspapers state, then I haven't yet received it.

My old bank accounts were closed when I split up from my husband so I hope there is a cheque in the mail :)

Sadly, I won't be able to spend the money on anything stimulating!! I really need to build up a bank account in case of emergencies.

The payment made in march was the centrelink single income family payment.

The payments in april/may are the 900 workers ATO stimulus. So it sounds like if your letter was from the ato then you should still be getting it.

Though I would definately ring them, if just to check they have your correct address.

Did you use an accountant, because it may be sent to them.....?

Oh, I'm so excited - my bank balance might get above zero!!

Yes, I did use an accountant for taxes last year.

Now that I know it should have been sent out, i'll chase it up...
