Okay well we seem to be having trouble saving money. We just seem to spend it as soon as we get it. We pay for the the smaller bills (mobile, internet, austar, hamperking, laptop etc) each fortnight when I get centrelink.
I am thinking about once DH gets paid, I transfer ALL of his wage into the savings account and just transfer the money that is needed for bills into the other account. And a bit of spending money for DH, he has just realised Red Bulls are expensive.
How does that sound?

Sounds like it could work but does sounds like a little double handling.
What we do is...
DF's pay goes into an access account that we can get to 27/4, than enough to pay the home loan, phone's, internet, insurences, foxtel get transfered from the access account to another account & are direct debited.
Food, fuel & play money gets left in the access account.
Health insurence, nappies, formula come out of my visa account that has X amount of money transfered to it each week.
Make sense?

I have never been any good watching our money. Didnt know where it was going.
Now we are going to be on one income I was freaking out.
I do ALL my banking online. And have three separate accounts (although I only really need two, will get rid of the other shortly) All transfers are automatic which I have set up myself.
I now know exactly how much money we have each week for shopping and spending.
Most bills are paid before I even receive them and some are even in credit. Those I cant pay weekly, the money goes into the other account each week and when the bill is due, the money is there to pay it.
I am more than happy to help and go into more detail if you are interested.
I am still learning about the whole budgeting thing but so far things are looking much better than they did before.
And I dont get any bills that I cant afford to pay!!!!!!!
