anyone living in Cairns?

I have recently emigrated with my Aussie husband from England and would love to meet other mums living in Cairns. I have 2 sons. A 1yr old and a 9 yr old. I am currently a sahm and am in desperate need of grown-up conversation!

Have just read your message and also found the thread from other Cairns girls. What a shame I didn't find it earlier, I would like to have come along today. Maybe on your next meeting? Let me know. It would be really great to get to know some new people as leaving England has been a really big step and I'm missing friends/family like mad! This forum is all new to me also but hopefully I will figure it out and find when you are all meeting up next. Quick question before I go- What inspired the name Desertress? I'm intrigued! ;)

LOL well my nick was inspired probably for different reasons to what people might think.... its not anything saucy or flirty as im often asked.

I actually started using this nick in a time when i was pretty depressed .. i felt lost and desserted by my friends... hence desertress became my nick and i have just kept it as it is never taken and i know i can use it for most things.

Anyhow shame you didnt come today.. will definatley have to let you know if we meet up again.

Yes it was a shame you didn't see our other thread in time. I've only just found yours but it would be lovely to meet you soon.

I posted a reply to the other thread suggested we meet up again sometime next week. Tuesday morning is not good for me and Mandy (one of the other mums) has friends up from down south on Thursday so I figure getting together earlier in the week may be best.

Whereabouts in Cairns are you living? Do you have a car to get around in?

Thankyou for the welcome message. Im living at Redlynch at the moment and no I don't have a car at the moment so getting around is a little tricky when I have the young lad with me (which is most of the time!)
I reckon I could use the bus to meet up with you guys if you are getting together somewhere like Cairns central again. Mornings are good for me - anytime after 9 once I have dropped off my 9 year old at school. Keep me posted and I look forward to meeting you and the other Cairns ladies soon! :wave:

Redlynch is pretty much just up the road from me so I can give you a lift next time we meet up. Although having said that, if we meet on tuesday afternoon, I won't be able because I have somewhere to be in the morning.
