Hi there,

I'm a single mother (seperated from my husband) and new-ish to Bundaberg. I moved from Brisbane with my 2 and a half year old Son.

I'm finding it hard to meet other Mums, and would love to get in touch with people for a coffee/chat while the kids socialise.

Hi there,

I'm up in Bundaberg with my 2.5 son and my husband...

We moved up from Brisbane just over 7 months ago, and I'm always looking for more friends. I regualrly catch up with some of the girls met on here, and your more than welcome...

Feel free to PM me or anything...would love to meet up.

Hi
I am thinking of moving back to Bundaberg after more than 15 years away. I have 2 children: 4 and 2 and am wondering how people find it in Bundy. I guess I'm thinking of things like making friends, facilities for children, schools etc.

I'd really appreciate any comments on living in Bundy!

I am from Luffly Bundaberg. Pretty good here, close to beaches, good things to do within an hours drive, schools pretty good. we have crazy maze, bowling alleys, gymnastics club and swimming.

If you want to know anything in particular let me know, i have been here for Mmmm too long! (about 20 years lol)

Hi
Thanks for the reply misskelz! I guess you know Bundy pretty well! What are the main things that have changed in the past 10 years or so? All my school friends have left Bundy so I'd be starting from scratch... again! :-O Do you know if there are many playgroups etc for little kids?

I see btrigwel said it's not easy to meet people .... has anyone else had the same experience .. or a better experience?

Thanks!

Not much has changed. Maybe Sugarland and Hinkler place (Opps its now called Hinkler Central) are bigger, there are a number of playgroups, if you goggle playgroups you will find a list in Bundaberg.

Look here (http://www.playgroupaustralia.com.au/qld/index.cfm?objectid=FB7936F2-E7F2-2F96-340CF64E50410B61&flashYpCode=Z015), i goggled for you :D

I am sure you can meet people if you join swimming or a playgroup or some kind of group. I still have some school friends around, although we dont catch up much, i have met some mums at swimming lessons (by Shalom School)

Bargara is bigger now, even has its own Woolworth's :yelclap: And lots of the foreshore is now high rises.

Outta Limits, Krystal's and Charlie's (which was also known as foxies,Casey's, etc) nightclubs are gone :D Just thought i would inform you!! hehehe

Other than that its same old same old!

I am just about to move anyhow, but if i still happen to be here when you come i will happily meet up.

But yep, any other questions, feel free to ask.

( house prices are reasonable, so are rentals, not sure what you would be chasing though)

EDIT TO ADD There are more playgroups than that, sorry just checked my link! there is a few church run ones and also the neighbourhood centre one!

Thanks for all your info. ... shocked to hear that Krystal's is no longer running!! So many memories (most best forgotten)! :p

One other question: Do you know if the windsurfing is any good? I can't seem to find much info on it on the web so I guess it's not all that popular any more. i know people used to go at Elliott Heads though.

Where and why are you going after 20 years?? We are going to try to get over there around Christmas time so if we move it would be next year sometime.:fingerscrossed:

Yes so sad Krystal's is no longer  ( had many a teenage night in that place, i agree best forgotten!! Hehehe

Windsurfing...Mmmm never done it myself but you can do it at Elliot Heads for sure. I see people doing that para sailing there all the time. Have seen them windsurf out the front at Bargara too.

I am going to Russell Island, just across from Brisbane, to become a Hippy and grow my own Veggies  I am going down because my mum and sis live in Brissie and i hate the city so Russell island is the next best option, then i am only a 15 min boat ride from my mum yet i am in my own little quiet world :goodvibes: far enough away from the city smog!

It is good here, and still relatively safe to bring up a family, there is always farm jobs if you cant get anything else and i have found the food is alot cheaper than Brisbane for some reason. I live in Avoca, more Like Sandy Hook really, my kids go to Branyan rd School, i absolutely love it, but its time for a change. I am hoping to be gone in August sometime :fingerscrossed: if all goes to plan, but it could be closer to Christmas also.
