Waiting time for TTC after miscarrage

When do you know it's alright to TTC after a miscariage? (physically not emotionally)

I was reading a post of one lady saying she had to wait six months till her HCG levels decreased.
Is it not possible to conceive if you still have HCG present?
How long do they take to go?

What happens if it's an early miscarriage?

Any one educated on this please.

unfortunately I had a missed miscarriage last month. I was told to let my body have 1 period, and then I would be physically ok to start ttc again.

I think I can answer some of your questions.

I was told that in most circumstances you can try as soon as you are emotionally ready, although it is recommended that you wait until you have at least one period, for dating reasons mainly. We chose to wait a few months, for emotional reasons rather than physical reasons. My understanding is that physically you can usually start whenever you want.

I think though that if a person has had a molar pregnancy it is different. It takes a long time for the HCG levels to drop in those circumstances, and conception can cause health problems if it happens before the levels drop. THis bit I'm not so sure on though, there is sure to be someone else here who knows more than me.

Hi there Little Toad.

I was advised to wait 3 months after my ectopic pregnancy's because of the operation that was involved. I think that after a miscarriage its normally recommended to wait til you have had one proper cycle before beginning to TTC again.

Hi i also was told to wait one month the start ttc my MC happened in may i left it for 2 months i started TTC in may but had no luck, trying again this month my AF are due on the 23rd, but i will do a home preg test tomorrow (Sat 17th) and see how it goes :fingerscrossed: .

for me i say start trying when you feel ready i have heard of stories of women falling pregnant straight away, as long as your ready i would say start trying.

was also told just one cycle, and only that for dating reasons, that wasnt good enough for me, and we just kept going... Good luck

I was told by my doc to wait one cycle - but only for dating reasons. I ended up conceiving again just 19 days after my m/c (whoops!) and just had a early scan for my dates. My pregnancy went well with no problems and the beautiful result is on my avatar!
Your Hcg should decrease quite quickly after a complete m/c. My levels were 19 after 5 days from the start of my bleeding.
