Hi,

So I'm turning the big 3-0 this year!!
DH and I have decided that to celebrate we are going to have a small function/dinner/cocktail party (not sure really). We've written a rough list of guests & we're looking at about 30-40 people.
I had my heart set on holding a cocktail party at "Joseph Alexanders" on Park Rd, but it's just too pricey. So I'm after some suggestions and recommendations. Anyone been to or had an awesome celebration somewhere in Brisbane/outer Brisbane? I'm open to anything really...I wanted to do something 'classy', as we've had many the backyard party. Budget wise...well under 1K would be good....wishful thinking perhaps??

My friend had an awesome 21st at Chalk bar. Don't know what the costs were though.

Are you looking inner City, Valley or out a bit? The Glen is nice & a bit further from the city so would probably be cheaper. I went to a 21st there too which was nice. South Bank have some nice places.

Good luck with your party planning!

I just had a look at the Chalk Hotel (online)...looks like it could be a contender...very reasonably priced & looks like a nice venue.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated...

Hi
I had an awesome 30th at the Story Bridge Hotel last year. it has a website with pics. It was planned beautifully by the function staff, picked my menu, dedicated barman in the function room, could decorate it however I wanted, own cake/their cake etc..... Even allowed me to bring my ipod and play my own music!
Anyway, great night. We had a sit down 3 course dinner for 16 people WITH drinks and it was $1500. If you went finger food would be much cheaper.
Great view of city from the function room too!

Depending on whether you want to hire the venue out (to have it all yo your selves or if you are happy for the place to have other customers outside (they have to come in to use the loo) Venice Cafe Bar is fantastic we had our wedding reception there and have since been back a few times for dinner or a coffee. I know it cost mum and dad aroung $3500 to hire the place exclusively but am sure it was lots cheaper if you have your party inside and they continue to trade outside. This fee included all food and drinks (actually I think they way it worked was regardless of what was spent under that amount it would cost the set figure - but we didn't make it to the set figure and they gave us a voucher to spend at the cafe at other times!)
But anyway Venice was classy, had great atmosphere and the staff were fantastic and most importantly the food was fantastic!!!!
