View Full Version : BF but wanting TC
Hi guys
Just after some ideas. I am currently BF my 10mth old but am wanting TC. Have had no periods yet and 2 x DS conceived with drugs to help. Am seeing my GP next week to see if okay to take drugs while BF but think he'll say no. :fingerscrossed: Any ideas to kick ovulation into gear so I can keep BF? I always said I wanted to get to 12mths but enjoying myself so want to go for longer. Want to keep the gap between kids same so need TC or stop BF soon (within the next month or so).
Any ideas would be great!

If it was me (which it's not, so feel free to ignore me) I'd get to 12 months and then cut back on feeds - I didn't ovulate until I cut back to I think it was 3 feeds a day, but it will depend on your body. At least if you bf to 12 months you've reached the min recommended time and then it won't really matter if you wean. JMO. :)
I'm currently doing 4 feeds. May have to drop feeds but may not be able to feed at all if not allowed to take drugs. Hope this isn't the case.
As I said in another thread my gp said I could take the drugs while bf so hope all goes well. If no +ve soon I'll have to stop the feeds. WOuld love to keep going though... :(

HI, I am in a very similar situation ( 9 mnth old, no PPAF) and would like to BF until my Bubba self weans...but also want no.2!! I have just started acupuncture to bring back a PPAF. Only into the early stages at the moment but think that it is working. Worth a go as it can't do any harm and hopefully will mean that I can conceive but still BF my girl.
Good luck and I will keep you informed on how it goes.

You girls are so lucky- I got my period back as soon as I introduced solids- and I am breastfeeding twins.
Also wanted to add something- 2 years is the min time recommended for breastfeeding by the World Health organisation- I'm fast approaching that now with my bubs- don't know what to do when I get there- it's definately a different but lovely experience breastfeeding a toddler- and it's so good when they're sick.
It sounds like you love your breastfeeding relationship- maybe cutting down the feeds will bring back your fertility- you can still be fertile and not get periods- but you have to be fairly aware of your body- google 'The Billings Method and Breastfeeding'
