View Full Version : Cooking Salmon in a Dishwasher....WTF
:detective: i guess if you dont have a stove or oven it would be handy...
Cooking Salmon in a Dishwasher
Needs:
salmon fillets
aluminum foil
a lemon
a few butter pats
electric dishwasher
Place the fish on two large sheets of aluminum foil. Squeeze on some lemon juice and place the pats of butter on the salmon fillets. Seal the fillets well in the foil, and place the foil packet in the top wire basket of your electric dishwasher. DO NOT ADD SOAP OR DETERGENT. Close the dishwasher door, set the dishwasher on the hottest wash cycle, complete with drying cycle, and let it run through a full cycle. When the cycle is complete the fish will be cooked just right.

That sounds absurdly interesting lol
There was a documentary series about Americans about 15 years ago on ABC called Fat, Dumb and Rich. In the episode called Fat they were exploring all these different wacky food things and they interviewed someone who cooks food in her dishwasher. As long as you have the dishes in there too, I guess it isn't all that wasteful.
They also spoke to someone who wrapped steak in foil and popped it on his car radiator while driving. When he arrived home, he had a cooked dinner waiting under the bonnet.
Odd.

Because you can badabing.. because you can.
I would so try this..
If I had a dishwasher.
No I probably wouldnt, I have bamboo steamers..and I suspect they would be much faster.
And besides, salmon is so much better lightly grilled/fryed in non stick pan with a bit of ginger and soy... oh yum I so want some fish and rice.
that would be a very expensive way to cook anything! not to mention the water bill!
lol.
This so reminds me of advice I received from a resident of a roadside-rest area... "you can boil water with only a flame and a paper bag" BUT STILL I ASK WHY?!!?!?!?! at least the paper bag thing could be a survival thing but cooking in the dishwasher WTF?

Fascinating:p. Who would have a dishwasher and no oven??? Who would eat a good quality piece of salmon that has been cooked in a dishwasher?

Ok I googled it and now I know why.
This is the only way I know of poaching a large whole salmon or sea trout that is too long for any other method & it works extreemly well. Don't forget to take out the dirty crockery first & don't add detergent. Be sure rinse aide is empty and clean or it tastes diabolical, honest!.
