Hi there

I am looking for mums who would be interested in meeting up on Wednesday's from the Ipswich / Western Suburbs areas.

Looking for people genuinely interested in meeting up soon as my son really needs some playmates.

:(I wont be able to meet up until after Sept. And my boys are older anyway (although DS1 loves hanging out with little kids).
I hope you can find your DS a playmate soon.

Hi qldmummy

Just thought I'd mention the playgroup out at Karalee - not sure if it is too far for you? It meets on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.30am-11.30am. It is really well set up -heaps of toys and activities - and lots of playmates for your son! The hall we meet in is a dedicated playgroup centre, so it is permanently set up for play, play, play (Harold Summerville's Road, Karalee - next door to Karalee Kindy). :flowerz:All the best!

Hi Zena,

I just saw your post about the group at Karalee.

I am looking to join a group in order to find friends for myself and my 4 month old son.

Does the group cater for babies so young? If so, do I just turn up or do you have contact details for the group? What is the cost?

Any information would be great - thank you!

Hi Brumington301

Thanks for your interest in the Karalee Playgroup.

The group is for birth to 5 years so you and your son would be most welcome. We have several under 1s, but there are several more about to be born in the next month so soon we should have some members even younger than your son. We have some armchairs for feeding, change table, high chair and soft play area with a large baby mat and plenty of baby toys.

Our Wednesday group is the largest session - average about 12 families attend each week, Friday is quieter - maybe about 6 families each week, but you are welcome to attend either or even both. First 2 sessions are free, then if you would like to continue you need to take out an annual membership with the Playgroup Association ($30 for the year). This covers our insurance and you get free membership of the local toy library which operates from our hall, and newsletters etc. Weekly fees are $3 per session per family or $5 per week per family if you attend both sessions in the one week. This covers our rent and consumables. Tea and coffee are provided, you just need to bring any food for your child. Often there is some morning tea available for the parents etc.

You are welcome to just turn up any Wed or Fri 9.30-11.30 at the Rob Thomson Community Hall, Harold Summervilles Road, Karalee (next to the Community Kindy) or send me a personal message if you had any further questions. I find the group to be really friendly, and we are eager to welcome new members. It is a great playgroup facility with lots of activities for your son to grow into as he gets older, and plenty of playmates!

All the best!:flowerz:

Sorry, I forgot to mention, if you are a first-time parent with a baby born in 2009, the Playgroup Association of Queensland is offering free annual membership for 2009, which means you do not need to pay the $30 annual fee this year.

Thank you so much for the info Zena.

I am a first time parent and my son was born in Feb so that's great that the membership will be free.

I'm hoping to come along to next Wednesdays group (and perhaps Friday as well) and look forward to meeting some new people. Having just moved to this area it is a great opportunity for me to get out and about.

Thank you once again.
:)

Hi are there any around 3 yr olds that go? My girl is almost 3 and I am looking for a playgroup for my daughter and I. We are new to Brisbane and are in need of some friends. Sounds a bit desperate lol.

Hi AliyahsMum

On Wednesdays we have about six 3-year-old girls. On Fridays there are 1 or 2. I have a daughter who turns 3 in July, and I usually attend the Wednesday session and sometimes the Friday as well.

You would be very welcome to try our playgroup - we would love to meet you! I don't know what suburb you live in? - if Karalee is too far there may be other playgroups closer to you. You can search for playgroups on the Playgroup Queensland website www.playgroupaustralia.com.au/qld (http://www.playgroupaustralia.com.au/qld):)
