Ok so I'm a good one for being well prepared and I have a list drawn up of all the things I want for the next bub. Thing is DH just agrees with me on everything and won't give me an objective point of view. There are a lot of things on the list that I want but only a few that I will need and with it adding up to nearly $2200 I think I need to cull it a bit. We owned very little for DS because he's the 7th grand child and could borrow a lot of stuff but we don't have that luxury this time. So bit of help in cutting it back a bit please.

Essentials:

Cots sheet set
Cot cellular blanket
BabyLove Ezy Switch car seat
BabyLove Ezy Focus pram
Tommee Tippee CTN bottles 2pk
Tommee Tippee CTN breast pump

Wants

LoveNcare bassinet
Bassinet sheet set
Airwrap cot bumper
Tetra cot pillow
Bubba Blue starry nights cot set
BB SN cellular blanket
BB SN velour pram blanket
Snug as a bug mobile
LoveNcare rocker
FP Jumperoo
FP Aquarium bath
Milk Bar feeding pillow
Bebe Pod Plus
Razbaby keep-it-clean dummies
infa change mat
BabyLove Snap & Go capsule
BabyLove Focus bassinet
Jolly Jumper stroller caddy
Valco SK8
Kapoochi Gubby backpack
Infa Kombo traveller port-a-cot.

TIA

Hun, maybe he's just being a practical male and figured 9 months will be long enough to work it out when the time comes.

We only used a baby bath for our first. Our second just went in the big bath with no.1 or in the shower with one of us. I would dump that off the list, or just get a cheap $10 one if you must have one. We also just used the sink a few times and the laundry tub at a friends.

I just used a regular pillow instead of a special feeding one or fed lying down in bed.

Could you hire anything that is really expensive? Things like capsules for little babies can often be hired. I hired a capsule.

Actually LCM he wanted to sit down with me and make a list. It just seemed like everything I suggested was fine by him. But yeah he may think he can change my mind on things later on

Opinionated: the bath is very much up in the air. Just depends on whether we're still here or not because there is no bath here. If we're in a place with a bath at the time I'll do what I did with DS. When I didn't bath with him I had a shower with him....was fun!! The pillows another thing I'm not sure on but I do know that a normal pillow just wasn't right for me and DS. As for the capsule, its on $200 and we're planning on at least 2 more kids so figured we'd get the use out of it if we did buy one. Plus the hire places round here only hire out safe n sound capsules, i mainly want it for the travel system and I don't like the steelcraft prams that go with the unity. But if needs be it will be scrapped because its not "needed".

Oh and i forgot to add the Ergo to the list. but if I fall pregnant before they're sold out I'll be getting a replica.

TBH I think you are putting the cart before the horse organising yourself beforehand ... Its much better to let things go until you need to organise them its a lot of pressure otherwise IMO.

That being said I organise myself too so know how its hard not to but when I start going onto paths that dont need to be ventured onto yet I take a step back & re-think what I am doing.

You want to move etc so I would suggest throwing yourself into doing all of that & working out whether you will need new items for the new house & what needs to go with you & what needs to get tossed or sent to charity etc ... I think that sort of stuff would be more important at this stage.

There is a bit of method to my madness here. We won't actually be moving until I'm pregnant and having done the major clean out when we moved from Brissy there is little for us to do to prepare for the move except look at rentals and work out moving costs. Looking at rental is something I see has counter productive because the rentals we'll be seeing today won't be the ones available to us. So my thinking was if I could organise those things that I could before all the chaos begins then I will. That means getting all my stuff off my sister, working out what we have and then making a list of what we want so when it happens we can start buying things as we can afford them.

Might not make sense to some but it makes sense to me.

Honestly, I don;t think you need even half of that 'stuff'.

Bubba Blue sheet sets are overrated IMO,... Living Textiles does some lovely cotton sheets and they are cheaper than Bubba Blue,..

Bottles and breastpump/Dummies - wait till bubby is born,..you may never use them!

Capsule - hire it,.Rafferty was in a capsule for 8 weeks before he was too big,..waste of money to buy

cot bumper - pass

Jumperoo - no idea what this is! lol
feeding pillow - pass

the Razbaby Keep-it-clean dummies retail at about $12 EACH !! Think how many you will need,...at least 4, yeah? Nearly $50 in dummies! to get lost,...broken,......thrown out of prams,.etc,...

and re:ergo,.I would actually use a homemade ringsling for the first 5 months,..

hth:thumbsup:

Can you get some stuff 2nd hand? If you are careful and look before you buy you can get some absolute bargains.
