View Full Version : Is this normal (sorry, long)???

Well I was finally diagnosed with PCOS late last year (age 28) and have been taking Diabex (2000mg per day) since October '08. Since late Nov I have had pretty regular cycles (well, by my standards) ranging from 31 to 38 days.

As this is the first time in my life I've had regular cycles I've also started getting some period symptoms that I've never had before (like being REALLY sooky and sore and wanting chocolate etc.) but this month things are feeling a bit different and I'm just wondering if this is more of the joys of a "normal" cycle or if I could be pregnant.

Anyway, the last couple of days I have had:

Weird feelings in my abdomen - sort of twitching and gentle tugging, some if it is low but some is a little higher than my belly button
Sore BBs - not tender to the touch but sore on the inside if that makes any sense
Increased discharge that is sort of clear/white and a smells a bit odd - not bad, just different (sorry if that is TMI)
This is really too much info I'm sure and I'm not sure how best to describe it other than a sort of fullness down there
Some light-headedness
Anyway, I was just wondering if these are things normally associated with a menstrual cycle or if there's a chance I'm pregnant?

I'm still not 100% on whether I ovulate or not but I think I did about 7 days ago. While we're not TTC we aren't using contraception either (thinking I don't ovulate). I also have a bit of a cold so I'm not sure if that is playing a role in this.

Any insight much appreciated.

just a quickie!

why are you trying to regulate your monthly if you have no intentions to ttc?

are you going to try in the future.

and from my knowledge i dont think you feel the tugging twitching (fetal movement) until at LEAST 3 months :)

hope this helped :)

I'm not actually trying to regulate my monthly... was put on Met to combat IR. Although I am hoping to start TTC later on this year so just trying to get a handle on what are normal period/cycle symptoms and what isn't.

I know I sound like a spaz asking what it's like to have your period considering I'm 29 but hey, I've gotta learn sometime right!

the discharge makes me think you might be ovulating? is it kinda like raw egg whites? Thats what my body does when I'm fertile, or it thinks I am.

Have you done a pregnancy test since this post?

I was put on metformin/diabex originally to regulate my cycles when we had not planned to TTC, we wanted to get everything right for when we were ready to TTC. Plus it can help with other symptoms.

haha I love your note - We are not TTC but not using contraception either thinking you don't ovulate. I find this funny because my Dr told me I didn't ovulate and so we decided we would just not use protection and see what happens thinking it probably won't happen because I don't ovulate. We were happy to fall pregnant but weren't actively TTC.

Anyway that very cycle we decided to see what happens I not only ovulated but released 2 eggs and both were fertilised. I did miscarry a few weeks later but I just want to say don't assume you dont ovulate and if you don't want to fall pregnant use contraception.
