We've been doing IVF for our second child 15months and had 3 very early miscarriages, a blighted ovum and just recently a heartbeat at 6 weeks but gone by 8th week.
I've been doing acupuncture and taking chinese herbs when possible so as not to interfere with ivf drugs, as well as Elevit, Folate, Iron and Fish Oil.
I've recently been told about iodine so I've just changed to taking Blackmores Conceive Well before we try again, as well as keeping up the acupuncture and chinese herbs.
We eat plenty of fruit and veges, fish twice a week. I very rarely have caffeine or alcohol, basically water and I don't do drugs or smoke.
I'm now 40 and was wondering if there's anything else that might help me hold the pregnancy that you can recommend.
Thanks

Hello Nathanmum,
I am sorry to hear about your challenging journey thus far. It sounds like you are already making some positive contributions towards a healthy lifestyle that can help to optimise your natural fertility and chances of a healthy conception through IVF.
Foresight, the Association for Preconceptual Health Care in the UK has published a study, which showed that when both prospective parents embark on a comprehensive health promoting program for at least 120 days prior to a conception attempt this has the effect of dramatically boosting their results--naturally (78.4%) or through IVF (47.1%).
Having run a similar program for 10 years in my own practice I can vouch for the excellent results.
My suggestions would be that you AND your partner take the same approach towards health optimization. This means you both take health and fertility promoting nutrient supplementation, both cut out coffee, alcohol, junk food and essentially anything that can negatively impact general health... (whilst adding anything that will promote health such as organic food, meditation, exercise, quality sleep and rest etc) Because anything that is detrimental to general health will also negatively impact fertility and vice versa.
I'd also suggest you make sure your doctors test you for immunological challenges, including miscarriage antibodies, allergies (including food) and monitor your progesterone levels.
Best of luck!
With Fertile Blessings,
