hi there

I am 29 and consider myself to be a young and hip yummy mummy. I don't think it should matter to much where you fit in, just find people that you feel comfortable with and that you can be your self around. Age shouldn't be to much of a factor. I have met mothers since having my son 14 months ago, some are younger than me and others are older. I think some people you just click with when you meet, and others you don't. My best advice would be to just be yourself. :)

Thanks Kazza1 that makes sense to me!:D
I went to a few first mothers group meetings when I had my first son, but most of them were older and really into their kids. Dont get me wrong I love my boys and I do talk about them but Id like to meet some mums that can talk about other stuff also. iykwim?

I am a 26yr old mum of 2.(boy 6yrs and girl 3 months) if your under 30yrs, I consider that "young".:)

Im 25 and im a part of many young mum groups. I also consider anything under 30 to be young, becoz in societys eyes today, if u have a child in your 20's well thats just too young isnt it lol.

Hey Sarah,

As you know I'm a young mum and I get along well with you so I think it would have to depend on personality than age.

I am 22 but my close good friends are 35 and another 20 so really does depend on the person. ;)

Also if you wanted to go to the dinner at Glen Waverley let me know, I can pick ya up and we'll go together mate, :)

Talk soon,

Meza. xxoo.

So at what age do we start classing ppl as older mothers (or should I rephrase that and say at what age to Dr's start classing ppl as older mothers)!

Is their such thing is a middle aged mother? Or is it just old or young mothers!

I class 35+ as an older mum and 24 - 34 as just average... so 23 and under IMO is a young mum.

However all the young mum groups, antenatal classes etc etc etc that I've ever been to or heard of have been mostly for 21 and under but some are 19 and under.

I have mummy friends that are teenagers, 20's and 30's and have different things in common with them all. I do find though that with people that don't have kids I can only 'make friends' with those that are about 23+ as teenagers and even early 20's that don't have kids don't understand enough what life is like and from my experience, can't accept that I might not always have time for a chat on the phone or to catch up when it suits them etc.

Great im average. NOT! i too was wondering if there is some sort of cutoff age. Cant say ive ever had my age group called average before tho. Hehe! oh well, guess that makes me too old for this section according to some of you, and welcome by others. Hmm!!!!!!!

Age is not important! You should just post a thread where ever you want because on bubhub everyone is supportive and you not going to get the reaction of
"oh my god, you are 27 and writing in the young parents part.... we are not going to reply"
Its upto you where you want to post!!! :smiliedance:

But you're right bubhub is supportive

Haha I was involved in a conversation today about younger mums and I got told 'not like you' so that implies Im a older mum....I only just turned 28 and my daughter is 6 in a couple of weeks. Sheesh I never felt like a nanna before till now. I remember falling preggie with DD1 and thinking I was waay too young to be a mummy....I was 22 at the time.....and Ive been told thats ancient now lol.

i run a young mums group and thats anyone under 25(only coz alot (not all) of teen/early 20s old feel abit uncomfortable being around older mums(30 +)..coz we think we a being judged or watever other reasons there might be...(not all younger mums do)..but age doesnt matter.. i think its however ppl think..and just coz this forum is 'Young Parents' doesnt mean a 40yr old mum(or dad) cant have their say..like hollie said bubhub is for support..and age shouldnt matter

but yer i think young mums r under 25 ..25 -30 is average 30+ is older
