View Full Version : Do you use a nappy bag or special bag for daycare?
My son is off to daycare in 4 weeks:crying:. Should I buy him his own special bag ie: like Elmo or Cookie Monster back pack that I have seen, he is 6 months or do you just take the nappy bag with all the supplies. what do others do. I have to pack his food / milk for the day, nappies and clothes, not sure what else?
I HAVE A SMALL SPORTS BAG FOR MY BUBBA AS IT FITS INTO THE CUBES (PIGEON HOLES, LOCKERS WHATEVER THEY HAVE) AND IT FITS ALL HIS SUPPLIES AS WELL AS BEING EASIER THAN MY NAPPY BAG (ONE STRAP AS OPPOSED TO TWO.)
sorry bout the capitals ... caps lock on!

oooh how exciting Debster :smiliedance: and a bit sad at the same time:(
Daycare should give you a list of what you need to bring and as he is solittle you may need a big bag to fit all his stuff.
Once he gets a little older you could probably get him a smaller backpack as daycare usually likes the smaller the better as space for bags and such stuff is usually limited.
My biggest tip is to label label label everything LOL coz things easily go missing when carers dont know what stuff belongs to which bub/child etc
Good luck:hugs:

Yes a bag definately, I got my son Buzz Lightyear his fav. I always pack a snack in his bag and show him where it is just so that I know if he gets hungry there is a snack in his bag. Spare clothes, sheets for sleep time, Hat, Nappies depending on if he is still in them, sunscreen, wipes, for the first couple of days I let my son take his blanky to settle in. I am a paranoid mother though, so I go overboard always...lol! but they are some suggestions.

We use our nappy bag (Kapoochi classic carry-all). We use cloth nappies (only ones at the centre who do!) which take up most of the bag. I put them in a calico bag so it can just be pulled out and put in the bathroom when we get to the centre. His food and bottles go straight into the fridge when we get there.
We also send a spare set of clothes, a sleeping bag and his comforter.
Don't forget to write out your routine and label bottles and food containers.
Possibly clothes as well - DS went to childcare yesterday wearing size 0 grey Bonds trackpants and came home wearing 00 navy corduroy jeans. They barely fit him so I don't know why no one noticed.

get into the habit of always getting nappy cream, teething gel or anything from the chemist labelled when you buy it. We weren't aware of this and had to buy new items and have them labelled (they wouldn't label bonjella that had been used once).
Just tell the pharmacist the product is for childcare and they'll do it.
Well that's for our centre anyway...
It is a brand new childcare centre so I have to ask them a few things, so far I have an invite on the last week of June for a parents morning tea but not much other information.
Routine.....mmmmm....it isn't working...we don't have one...also still b/f and trying to wean but not working either...although bubs will take a cup of milk and solids.. So sad about leaving him too.:crying:

Hey Debster,
I used to work in a Childcare centre in the babies room so I would say take the nappy bag while he is so young and needs so much stuff, as I used to find it really difficult having to find stuff at the bottom of the tiny character bags and having to pull everything out and repack it. But other wise if you dont want to take your good nappy bag just get a cheap one or a bigger bag or even one of those coles/ woolworths green bags are ok.
Good luck I hope it is not too traumatic for you.

Hannah has a pink tweety bird bag and Rebecca has a blue Nemo bag (which really belongs to Hannah but Hannah has said she can borrow it - how nice)
