Bl**dy hell...no good deed goes unpunished does it?

No, I'm not getting a commission (that's about as ridiculous as the one about me working for the Liberal Party!), and I'm not even going to sign up for this offer as our phone bill is alot lower than this price per month anyway.

Didn't really want it to end up a "Telstra bash" thread...just letting others know of a deal one of my girlfriends just signed up for.

You know, the title of the thread was "Telstra Homeline Ultimate...great deal!"...
so if you're happy with your current provider why would you bother opening this thread in the first place!

I'm so glad that I went to the effort of finding and posting the link after my friend told me about it, and posting the thread in the first place...

I figured sopolicha was joking...

I'm with iinet phone at the moment cause I have an adsl / phone bundle. None of the telstra deals were ever good for me, i dont use enough on the phone and to be honest I don't like giving them money after all the **** they gave us trying to get broadband through providers other than Bigpong.

Our home is 100% telstra free

My DP signed us up for this (without consulting me - still ad at him about that one).

He has had to ring back three times now at my insistance to get rid of the message bank. Why he thought that was a good idea when we have an answering machine is beyond me. They took it off but kept putting it back on which was incredibly annoying.

Also since the change over, we have been unable to dial international.

Well maybe I do deserve a commission....seems like I'm the only person who doesn't seem to have any trouble with Telstra!

Well, since telstra has no competition whatsoever in that department, they can charge whatever they like... unfortunately.

When you sign up with another company, they still have to pay telstra for line rental but might tell you, the customer, that they only charge $16 line rental or whatever and just adds the extra somewhere else. Telstra still gets their line rental payment regardless though.

Just like Broadband, Im sure phone costs are much cheaper in a lot of other companies because they have competition and not a monopoly.

Its why im glad to be with Iinet broadband, they've installed their own dslams at the telephone exchange so that Im not actually paying telstra anything for my adsl or phone. Its great.

Anyone else know of any good phone/internet deals?
We are with iprimus and for $80 a mth we get all our local calls free, our line rental and our broadband, I think that is a pretty good deal :)
and because we went with a 24 mth contract we got our modem and stuff for free

beware though of some of these companies.

even unlimited isnt really unlimited. they just set the limit so high that you have to d/l alot to go over it. most of the companies ive seen slog you with a massive fee once you go over.

we have optus and if you manage to get over the limit of d/l's they just slow your speed right down to dial up speed and dont charge you anything. then it just goes back to normal speed the next month.
