Hi All,

My little man is now 8 weeks old and I'm starting to feel human again (yay!). I am wandering when the next meet will be as I am really going to try and make myself come (I'm not very good at the whole meeting people thing :o).

Also, does anyone have an ergo that I could perhaps try out? I have been using a bjorn but my back was sore during my pregnancy and it is still sore and the bjorn doesn't seem to be helping. I've had a friend just go from the bjorn to the ergo and she said it's made all the difference... but I'm wanting to try it before I pay for it...

Also I'm curious, does anyone have kids that go to school around the Kaleen area? I keep looking at other parents at our school and wandering if any of them are on here :).

Hope everyone is having a good night :)

Hi Nomadic,

Good to hear from you, congratulations on your little man, sorry it has not been very busy on here, wasn't sure if we had congratulated you. We were going to have a meet on Thursday but I believe that has been moved to next week for various reasons. I will confirm that this morning and then message you with details of the next one.

It would be lovely to meet you finally and the more the merrier when it comes down to meets. We vary the location on a weekly basis so I hope either the next meet or one shortly after suits you.

I don't have an ergo sorry and I don't have any school age children but I am sure someone will respond on here for you shortly. A few sick babies at the moment so I know some mums have not been online as much as normal.

Speak soon.

Jen

 I am in Evatt with school aged kids, but they home-school, so we rarely poke our noses out before about 11 am. I have never tried an ergo, but I did love my ring sling. I don't go to many of the meets because I am usually doing 'schoolwork', but you could drop in for a cuppa one day if you are at a loose end and feeling brave!:D

I'm in Evatt too, small world :) dThough our kids go to school in Kaleen (Evatt primary is horrible - hated it!!!). Homeschooling fascinates me. Part of me would love to do it but I seriously think I'm too selfish and unorganised to be able to pull it off. I need my time to regroup when the kids are at school.

We were at Miles Franklin until November last year and, although a much nicer school than Evatt, I was very unhappy with the bureaucratic interference and the increases in class sizes.

Also, I felt my DD was slipping through the cracks and DS was unchallenged.

And I'm not the most patient or organised person in the world (hence my comment about you feeling brave), but the kids are flourishing, so it's definitely right for us.:)

I will PM you my contact details if you would like.

Hi, Im Evatt too! Wow small world! I went to St. Monica's myself. I heard Evatt Primary was fairly crappy. I don't have an Ergo Nomadic, sorry, and congrats on your little bub! Maybe if I listen carefully tonight I might hear him? :D Keep an ear out for my bub who should be here by next month.

Nomadic - I have an ergo, and try and get to meets fairly often.

I will bring it along to the meet next week if you're coming to it, though at 8 weeks - you'd probably need the infant insert for the ergo. I do have one of them too, somewhere!

I do love my ergo - but found that when my DD was small, my moby wrap was much more comfortable and I prefered her in that over the ergo until she was about 7 months :)

Would definitely like to catch up at some stage . Our kids go to Maribyrnong at Kaleen. We had major issues with DS1 at Evatt as he was quite anxious at school and when they turned around and said there were expecting major problems with DD we decided that was the last straw. They're different kids! DD is quite bouncy and immature despite being quite intelligent.

Maribyrnong is fantastic. They keep their classes to no more than 21 (19 if they can), they have wonderful teaching assistants, the principal is lovely, the office staff are lovely, even the groundsman knows who everyone is. We have had a few issues with DD due to her immaturity and they have worked with us from day 1. They push the kids ahead when they need it and support them in the areas where they might be behind. The parent / teacher communication is that you would expect from a small country school. The teachers include the kids in their lives as well (several have been pregnant and kept the kids informed and involved them talking about their babies and making the kids feel a part of it).

Ironically we wanted the kids to go to Miles Franklin but were out of area as we lived in Giralang at the time, we have since moved and pretty much live a 5 minute walk from MF... we're just off Moynahan Street .

Not sure if I'll be able to hear your bub... though I'm sure the whole of Evatt has heard me crack it at my kids from time to time

Thanks for that.. I'm still using the bjorn at the moment. I have looked at slings but they just seem a little confusing to me and I know I would be worried about the material breaking.. he's 9 weeks & 6 kilos so he's not light... will see how I go though. Hopefully we'll get to meet up at the next meet though.
