Thinking of moving to these areas...

Suggestions?

What are the schools like? My boys start prep next year.

Any other Mums out there???

I'd be taking them out of their preschool, so I'm looking for somewhere where I can easily find Mums with 4 year olds to get together with.

My ILs live out that way. Most of it is semi rural kind of area so I imagine it would be harder to meet other Mums that you hit it off with than in bigger towns. My ILs live in a reasonably large one, but even then everyone still seems to know everyone else - and everyone else's business  That aspect of the area would drive me a little bonkers.

LOVE Boonah, it is a pretty little town and I have heard the state school is good...it is close to lakes for water skiing too :D We spent alot of time there over Christmas last year. Boonah is pretty big so there would be alot of families out there for sure. I love the treel lined leafy streets....at Christmastime we were convinced we were going to move there.

Esk, we have considered moving to as well (near anothe great skiing lake hahaha.) It is about an hour from us I think....such a pretty little town....hmmm don't know much else but we drive through there all the time.

I don't really have any useful information for you except wherever you go you will meet other families....if I can do it here where live, you can do it anywhere!

Fernvale is only good for its bakery, they do the best brekkys!!

We have a "friend" in Marburg. She's got no kids though so know nothing about schooling out there. There is very little there though. We've been through Gatton a few times and like the look of the place.

I lived at Marburg for a few years as a kid. I loved it.

It was Dad's place, so we were only there for fortnight weekends and half holidays, but it was lovely.

Not much there though... drive past the pub and you've missed the town. lol. But it has a nice little school.

What about Gympie???

I went to primary school at Marburg (grew up there!), it was pretty good. It was very small and everyone knew each other - which has its positives and negatives.

oh, I know where you're coming from. I go through stages where I think about moving out to Rosewood (etc). Cheap real estate, acreage, growing your own produce...

But still close enough to Brisbane.

Are you looking for acreage, or a whole small town tree change? Because there's acreage out at Karana Downs, Karalee, Mount Crosby etc.

My favourite at the moment (if the finances allowed) would be Mount Nebo or Mount Glorious. Only 20 minutes drive to The Gap.

Not sure about Gympie. But I'm biased as I grew up in Maryborough and I fled at my first opportunity. I guess I think of it as a very conservative town.

We just moved from the city out this way and we love it.
We wanted to live some where rural to raise our daughter. The people are friendly and ít's not too far from the airport or the city.
Where we are there is a state and a Catholic primary school. Not sure what they are like but there are many other schools in surrounding areas etc.

Boonah hands down but then again I'm slightly bias since I grew up there and trying very hard to convince DH that we should too but he grew up Lowood way hence the struggle. Boonah is the biggest town out of your options so you will have more chances of meeting people, the area has really boomed in recent years. Plus the scenic rim views are to die for, oh I'm raving a bit sorry. Both primary schools are good, all saints has the smaller class sizes though.

I hear Laidley primary isnt too bad....

I love it out here, I'm sort of near Laidley, and Fernvale, fernvale is also good for it's markets....

I say stay away from Gympie...and relocate somewhere out here. Most places out this way are peaceful, and a great place to raise a family, if you dont mind the long drives to get to shops and stuff!
