DF and I are getting married at the end of october next year. And we're starting to put together the lists on what we need to organise etc before then (we dont wanna leave it till last minute and have an even bigger:hair:/:crying:)

And for the past couple of days i've been looking at hair stylists and makeup artists and  they are expensive....

If i can ask all of you the following questions....

How much did u get the hairstyles for? (cheapest i can find is like 95 bucks per person)

How much did u get the makeup done for?
(cheapest i've found is 60 per person - over 4 people)

I have 4 bridesmaids (my bestie and my 3 besties from h/s) and my dd as flowergirl - who will be a week away from 4yo. And i'm trying to keep our budget as low as possible...

Which is really hard to do, esp as we'd like to hire out a location, which provides accomodation for almost 70 people for approx $4000 for 3 nights. Plus the caterer is gonna cost almost 2000 in itself... We're getting friends to do the photo's (we're gonna buy the film for them) and just get some normal hire cars for the wedding vehicles.

:hair:

Also, considering we're gonna be providing accomodation and all of the food for the 3 days, we're tossing up the idea of asking the adults who stay (not gonna ask for people under 18 though) to put either a small financial contribution to the accomodation/food or to provide some of the food items.... We'd be asking a MAXIMUM of $20 per adult....

Do you think this is too rude? We havent made any decision on this yet, nor have we even started making any invitations hehe....

WDYT???

Sorry for the length......

Hang on - you're paying for people to have a 3 day holiday, fully paid for and meals included and you're worried that it might seem rude to ask them to kick in some cash for it  ?????

While I think it's a lovely gesture, my honest opinion is that I think you're mad for trying to pay for all that.

I had myself and 2 bridesmaids, my hair cost $80 and theirs cost $70 each. They paid for their own hair to be done - this was something I discussed with them and let them know that if they had a problem with it then to PLEASE let me know. They also paid for their dresses but we picked something that they would wear again (in fact, in the 6 months since our wedding, one of them has worn it a further 2 times) and they had input into the dress and hairstyles too.

Oh I agree that you shouldn't pay for the accommodation. Not for the food outside of the wedding either. That will surely bring your budget down a fair bit, I honestly don't think it would be expected would it?

All of the other stuff I am not sure of costs sorry but others will be and I agree they should be paid for by yourselves. I also feel that the bride and groom should pay for about 90% of the bridesmaids costs (if not all) but thats a whole other thread around here somewhere......:)

well as we were discussing this yesterday i honestly think you could ask for a fair bit more than $20 per person esp as its a 3 day weekend away. considering all accomodation will be provided and your providing all the food.

we can talk more tonight if you want about it but you know i will be there with bells on no matter what the cost is only coz i luffs ya:D and coop too. i think D better be prepared for when coop sees him next time esp coz of their fan club:laughing:

Only thing I can suggest is for the make up - when I was meant to get married I went to Napoleon Perdis for lessons (was about $90 but you got $90 worth of products included in that price) so I could do it myself. If you did that, you could do your bridesmaids make up. Or get them to do their own. That's what I was gonna do  but I'm rude, I was getting everyone to pay for their own accommodation too lol.

I agree paying for everyone to have a 3 day holiday - while it is a lovely thought - if you are on a budget is not practical.

With the makeup I went to Napoleon too the girls their did my makeup for me oneday talking me through the products and techniques then I bought a few products - I think the best one is the photofinish powder - it has a slight green tint to reduce redness and a matt finish which is great in the photos.

Hair I got my hair/a spraytan and eyebrow wax all done as a part of a wedding deal for $150 including a trial run for my hair. I was really happy with it so look out for places that include other things in with the hair (stuff you were going to get done anyway not extra stuff you weren't thinking about or don't want)

Good luck with the wedding planning and of course your big day.
