My DS, who turned 2 a couple of weeks ago, has started pooping in his cot. He's only done it about 3 times, but each time it is upsettting and pretty yucky.
He takes his pj bottoms and nappy off, places them out of his cot then poops and then goes to the other end of the cot and cries out for Mummy...
He hates being dirty and is not a fan of the poop. That said having a pooopy nappy has never really bothered him (some days he's rather stay in a poopy nappy than be changed).

I don't get mad at him, I just explain that it is yucky and we only go poo & pee in the potty or in our nappies. But I'm obviously not getting through to him.

He does use the potty (although he is far from potty trained - am expecting DD to born within the next couple of weeks, so am holding off)and we've introduced a sit on the potty at night after teeth brushing. He normally has a good pee and sometimes even poops.

Just not sure if this is a result of him acting out because of the new baby that's expected, or if it is his way of telling us that he is ready for tt or if it's just one of those things....

IMO he's ready to TT. 2 months ago I potty trained DS (was then 25 months old), and he was potty trained in 4 hours using the 3 Day Potty Training method.

The sign of readiness with the 3 day method is simply the ability to communicate (whether verbal, physical gestures, signing, tugging at your trousers, you get the idea - it doesn't just mean language!).

I realise that for you it's a bit tricky with a new bub due so soon, but there's no reason your DS couldn't also be trained really quickly with this method.

If you want any info, see www.3DayPottyTraining.com (http://www.3DayPottyTraining.com) , I highly recommend it

Oh no!

I think its a 'phase', I've seen lots of babies around 2 years when I worked in childcare do that at nap time a few times, I think until they realised how gross it was!

We didn't get upset at them, just explain that its yucky, as you did.

I would ride it out and hope that he stops sooner rather than later!
