Hey ladies
I have a 8 1/2 month old DS who is worrying me a little bit at the moment. His fine though the day, actually great through the day, but come night his not himself. He has never been a great sleeper and now his waking up every 20-40mins after we put him down, but will only be settled by me. But when i say settled, he moans n groans for ages after i put him back down, like his in some sort of pain or something.
Has anyone elses bub been like this? He doesnt have any teeth, so i thought it could be this, then i thought maybe the cold is playing havoc with his ears. Im a first time mum with really no idea, if anyone could help i would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance and sorry for such a long thread.

Hi
I would take him to the Dr just to check ears etc. Some Doctors make you feel silly but don't worry, he's your baby and you should trust your instincts if you think there is something up, especially if it is out of character.
I find teething or any illness can be a lot worse at night because they have nothing to distract them.
Good luck and hope you get some sleep tonight. My lil man is much the same at the moment an is waking hourly inconsolable :( That's what mummy cuddles are there for though:goodvibes:

Agree with GeorgiaAnne, I would say ears first, teeth second. Or it could be a mix of both.
My bub never has had a temp with ear infections just wont sleep at night, in the day she is fine, same with teeth really.
I would see a GP asap, and maybe give a dose of panadol, if it works then obviously he has something more going on.

Thanks for ur replies. He has 2 lumps n his top gums but they have been there for weeks, havent moved at all. Might go to GP if only for peace of mind in the end, n to rule out te ears thanks.:)
My 5 month old is acting exactly the same . Fine during the day, but night, waking 20minutely, bit of groaning and grunting then out like a light till the next 20mins.
The last two nights has been two hourly, and I was putting it down to wind, because there is a bit of back-arching going on as well.
In my sleep deprived state I always forget about panadol and the likes, so might try it tonight.
If it does keep up, I will take him to the docs for a general check-up too...
Hope you find the answer or get some sleep soon :hugs:

My GP once told me they have a period of unsettledness right before they reach milestones (rolling, crawling, walking etc) so far it has reined true and although i doubt he has scientific evidence to back him up, i totally believe he is correct.
He told me this on one of my 'i think she has an ear infection' visits :p
But teething and ears indeed present similar symptoms, its so hard to know coz they cant talk!!!! But i try the panadol trick and if it appears to help, i go to the GP the following day, if it doesnt....well i put it down to a 'developmental' stage.
