hey everyone,
This may be a bit premature as I still have 8 days left to wait before I can test, but does anyone have any really great way to tell their partner that they are pregnant? Something a bit special?
Love to hear any stories!!!!
Thanks
Em. :yelclap:
I have heard of people just using a nice teddy bear, putting it somewhere like on the bed where he will see it with a positive pregnancy test on it. As long as he knows what a pregnancy test looks like and whether it's positive or not might help! lol
I'm sure there are others that are more creative than me though! lol

We were not planning on concieving but magic happens and we were over the moon. My DH walked in the door after work and I said...."go have a look on the kitchen bench" He found two (I had to be sure) pregnancy tests sitting on a tiny size 000 knitted jumper that I had bought for a friend a few years ago but loved so much I kept it. He got the shock of his life and ran to me and hugged me and burst into tears.
My sister bought a maternity dress and told her DH "I bought a new dress today, want to see it?" She went upstairs put the dress on with a pillow underneath and said "How do I look?"
All the best with TTC and hopefully getting a positive in 8 days time and telling your DH. Make sure you tell us how you told him!
Some I've heard of...
making a dinner with all baby foods (baby carrots, baby corn etc.) and then at the end of the meal (if he hasn't guessed already) give him a present that is baby booties or something along those lines.
Write 'I'm pregnant' 'Hi Daddy' or something like that on belly and then ask your SO if they can have a look at your belly cause it's really itchy and ask him if he can see anything.
Buy something that has dad written on it and either give to him as a present, or leave somewhere for him to find it.
If you have a pet you can get a bandana and write I'm going to be a big sister/brother on it (or write it on ribbon)
Ask your SO to run to the grocery store for you to get some pickles and icecream (or serve it up for dessert, you don't have to eat it of course!)
I had high plans to put some buns in the oven and asking Chris to check on dinner for me.. ;)
But in the end I peed on a stick and was so damn excited that I nearly tripped over myself running from the toilet to the bedroom, a jumped on the bed, shoving the test in his face going "OHMYGODDOYOUSEETWOLINES?!"
What a way to be woken.

I bought a little blank gift card and wrote in it : Dear Daddy, I'm on my way and I can't wait to meet you! Love always, baby *Dp's surname*
Then I popped the test in it, and put it in an envelope. When I got home from work I handed it to hm and waited for his response. So classic!

I told my Mum, and i guess it would work for DP/DH too ...
'What are you doing on the 14th of July (due date)?"
"Don't know, why?"
"We'll, can you put in your diary. Expected, new member of family."
This went down a treat!:smiliedance:
what great replies, keep 'em coming, I have always wanted to do something special for an announcement... I particularly like
Write 'I'm pregnant' 'Hi Daddy' or something like that on belly and then ask your SO if they can have a look at your belly cause it's really itchy and ask him if he can see anything.
But you never know, could be like Seekrit and just be do darn shocked at the test result!

DH was with me the first two times when I did pregnancy tests, but for my 3rd pregnancy (being on the pill) I didn't want to tell him until I was sure. So when I did the weekly grocery shopping I picked up a test and it came back positive. Before he got home from work, I put a 000 sized romper suit on the table and sat the pregnancy test on it, knowing that he should see it when he got home as that is where he dumped his work stuff. Then I went and hid in the bedroom with the kids, worried about his reaction at an unplanned pregnancy.
But it was all a waste of time, he dropped his work bag on the test without even seeing it and then went looking for me, who was in tears from being worried, lol. I went and showed him and he was over the moon, lol.

I got another idea off bub hub from a member called Jacki (I think) and used it to tell my mum and my nanna:
On mothers day my husband said "kate get next to your mum and grandma. I want to take a photo of four generations" (they failed to pick that up). Then he said "Now instead of saying cheese I want you to say ...Kate is going to have a baby" They said it then looked at me and my mum said "what....really?" and she burst into tears. My nan just giggled. We have six photos in a row of the reaction and they will be priceless momentos for the baby to keep forever.

That's a really awesome idea with the photos! I love it.
I didn't tell DP for two weeks after I found out. I wanted the moment to be just right.
In the end I sat down and patted the couch next to me and said "sit down babe, I need to talk to you for a minute".
He kept standing and goes "Why, you're not pregnant are ya?".
So romantic....not.
I went "umm...well yes I am actually".
Then he groped his way to the nearest chair and sat staring into space for about 5 minutes without speaking.
Not what I had planned AT ALL!! I had visions of him smiling and swinging me round the room. Not some zombie sitting in a chair with a look like a smacked-a*se.
After the shock wore off he was realy happy and is now the most excited Father to Be you've ever met.
(just not the most romantic obviously!!)

Another one that I heard that I thought was cute for the grandparents was to ask them innocently whether they'd decided already if they'd prefer to be called nan and pop, or grandma and grandpa...
sheshh I had no idea I was pregnant DP was the one who broke it to me lol
But I did tell my brother in a cool way I hadn't seen him for 3 years and we went out for dinner he offered me wine I said no thanks he kept on and on have one etc, I said "no I can't" he said "why?" and I said "you're going to be an Uncle" he nearly dropped the wine and burst into tears. :D

I'm going to create a little animation on the computer and leave it on the desktop with.
"Click here Frog" When he clicks, I'll have a cartoon of a little toadlet hopping towards him with the song "Daddy Cool" playing,
Toadlet saying "Hoppy Hoppy to meet you Daddy"
I have made him a card that says "You're Going to be a DADDY!" on the front and I have 2 books on being a dad for him wrapped up.
BUT I'm pretty sure I will be so happy that I will just blurt it out and ruin my own surprise!
Just found these on ebay - pretty interesting way of telling your other half!!

I think they're cute!!! But my DP probably wouldn't even read what's written on them and I'd have to end up telling him!!

LMAO That could have been my post!
Except Hubby was running a computer shop across the road from our flat, he left for work before I woke up, I called him back across the road, saying I had something important for him to look at.... basically tackled him
shoving the test in his face going "OHMYGODDOYOUSEETWOLINES?!"
But we had been trying quite a while!

Ditto, this is how I told my DP. Every calm way I had thought of to tell him went out the window when I saw that second line
I'm thinking of sending him a Dominos pizza delivery to his work & writing something under the lid... the cheese is a bit of a worry though!!! Testing next week so still a while to think!!!
Get them to make a special pizza - spelling out with olives!

i think we would just be happy to get that second line... i dont think i am going to be able to stop my reaction, and i sure as hell think hubby will be able hear my reaction!
I do LOVE the idea of buying a card with little baby feet on it, and writing to Mum and MIL... Cant wait to meet you around the "20th March" (which is when our baby will be due, seeing as we ARE getting preg this month). Love your soon to be grandbaby!
sounds adorable..but again we will probably be SO excited we just blert it out! :smiliedance:

Well i was a week late when jay went on a boys trip (brokeback mountain:laughing: ) but hadnt done a test as i was so sick of getting BFNs. Anyway away he goes on his trip..he phones me just as they are getting out of range and said i should do a test. I said no. Anyway i cave and an hour later i tested. BFP! I went mental and tried to phone him...yep..out of range.!!
I had to wait 3days till they went to a pub and he called. It was the longest 3 days ever. Next time im going to get jazzy to hand him the test stick when he comes home from work..

My Dh was a bouncer when i fell with DD2. We weren't planning on having a bub.. But was vomitting and had serve pain, so mum took me to the hospital as they thought i needed a D&C after dd1. So they were organising the op, but they worked out i was pregnant. So i rang DH in tears while he is on the gate of a night club, to tell him i was pregnant. Or he could do laugh and while i was crying.
 How about if you left a speci-jar of your FMU in the bathroom with an unopened HPT & got hubby to test for you... tell him to organise an evening out for you both & he can spring it on you then. That way he feels he is the one with the news... (you could already know if you want???)

For my #1, hubby and I did the test together but to tell our parents and family:
We had an ultrasound at 7 weeks because of some spotting and at Xmas time we were going to be 10 weeks so figured we would tell them all then. So I photographed a pic from the xrays (as you cant scan them and I didnt get a photo from the ultrasound) and put in in an xmas card that read "Dear Nan/Uncle... etc, Although I am only 10 weeks old I can't wait to meet you around 23rd July 2005, Love baby (surname).
We had them wrapped up like presents and had everyone open theirs at the same time. It was a great reaction. We even sent it to family members interstate and it worked the same.
For our next one I think I will do the: take a photo and instead of cheese I would like you to say......." It would be a great photo!!
hehe iv been thinking about this. i think id get a t-shirt printed for my son. then he can be wearing it when daddy gets home from work some thing like Daddy, im going to be a big brother, mummys pregnant!! or similer :D
