DS's dad bought formula for him while i was away. today is the first time i have gone to make up bottles only to find that he has bought the wrong formula. :shame:
he bought toddler 12 month + instead of step 2 formula for 6 month +.
DS has been having this for two days now, and i was wondering if this can hurt him or make him sick?? :(
a bit worried to be honest, and was hoping someone might know more about it than me...... :detective:
Hi, it wont hurt him at all. It just doesn't have the save level of 'nutrients' in it as the step 2 formula..... its more like a cows milk type quality rather than a food substitute quality if that makes any sense. It might pay to get him the proper stuff today but dont worry about the 12+ mth hurting him, this wont happen.

thankyou very much!!! :hugs: i feel a little better now!
i already bought the right formula first thing this morning, i just wasn't sure if there would be any side effects from the wrong stuff. glad there aren't in the short term use.
what about using starter formula instead of step 2?? can this hurt him at all?? :(
DS's dad has done this too, and i went off at him about it. he never seems to get it right!
maybe i should just ban DS's dad from buying formula.............

I dont think the started formula will hurt him. As far as I know the only main difference between the 2 is that the step 2 has more iron in it. Alot of people continue using the starter formula way after their bub is 6 months, they just make sure bub gets iron from different foods to supplement it.

No starter formula wont hurt him either. Its just a different ratio of the same ingredients practically. Many people never go to step 2 formula because there isn't a great difference. I myself didn't change to step 2 formula until my DS was about 11 months old.
