Hi guys

have been searching old posts for some help with MS. i am 8.5 weeks and been suffering for the last 3 with constant nausea. nothing has worked including zofran.

i had an accupuncture session yesterday and felt better for a few hours. i'm just wondering if anyone has had long term success? how long you had sessions for and did it eventually make it go away or just subside fir a few hours after each session?

any info would be hugely appreciated!

It's been a while since you posted this and I hope the ms has eased up for you. I did acupuncture when I was pregnant with ds and did about 4 sessions but haven't bothered this time, I went from taking Maxolon to Zofran to wondering what to do with myself now. The naturopath agreed it was so severe and if it hadn't helped after 4, it was unlikely to have much more impact but it did help somewhat and take the edge off but for someone where it's not so severe it should help after at least 2 or 3. Hope you're feeling better!

Hi,

thanks so much for your response. unfortunately, nope it hasn't changed much! i say that with flippancy but am trying not to get too down about it, i'm so exhausted and sick of feeling so ill 24/7. but i guess you'd understand that!

how is this pregnancy going for you? i'm scared i'llnever go back for another after this terrible experience.

have had accupuncture 4 times now but twice each with two different practitioners, didn't click too well with the first.

i can't tell if it makes a difference. i feel great at the time, dreadful the next day, then a bit better the day after that. it's so confusing!

am just wondering now whether to try zofran again at a higher dose.

anyway, will stop rambling on! thanks again for info and experience

It's such a difficult time isn't it? I try and be positive and thankful that I'm blessed enough to fall pregnant when so many struggle and just hope all goes well but at the same time when I'm crying next to that toilet bowl and hungry but don't want to eat anything it's hard to be positive. I'm struggling along and that's why I took medication this time. I'm not finding the Zofran is helping all that much so I might just see how I go without it. Hopefully it will ease up soon but feels like forever.

This is my second and every pregnancy could be so different so don't let this deter you. Good luck....

Hi, I am so glad it is not just me that feels this way! I said to DH last night that if i had a MC I don't know if I could do it again. Just feel so crap all the time. Nausea all day, worst at night and I am so tired that some days I can't even get it together to have a shower. And this is my days off! Don't know what I'll do when I have to go back to work tomorrow. I have some zofran but I am a bit scared to take them in case they don't work. Or in case it gets worse and I don't have any more!
OK enough of my whinging, glad to know it's not just me though. And fingers crossed it passes soon eh!

Hi guys,
I was horribly ill with constant nausea this time last year when I was pregnant.
My sister had used acupressure bands and found these worked very well.
I dragged myself to the chemist one morning and purchased a very sexy pair of the bands (normally used to treat sea sickness) and I did not look back. They took a few days to get to the perfect position but I have them ready for the next time!
You are able to access the pressure points in each wrist 24 hours a day – brilliant!
I wore the bands all day, every day until I was about 20weeks, then I eased myself off them (they were a little like a security blanket for me).

As horrible as it sounds a friend who is a paramedic told me to eat salt and vinegar chips. He also recommends that for nausea to drink flat coke but as I was pregnant he put me onto Bickfords lemon juice (you mix it with water).
These were a few tricks that got me through and I was still able to work (prior to getting the acupressure bands I was in bed or on the lounge feeling very sorry for myself!).

Good luck Shan2009, this horrible phase does pass and you can start to enjoy the miracle of your bump :smiliedance:
