I made the long drive to the hospital on a cold & still dark morning for my induction.
I arrived at 7am which was the time of my induction was due for, I already had a bloody show the night before & was having contractions all night and was still having them as I got preped in hospital.
They put the drip in just before 8am and got things moving along.
I started having contractions stronger almost straight away, I was happily breathing through them & was still joking & laughing with my DH even when they increased my drip and the contractions got worse.
My midwife was wonderful & said that most women cave & have a epi at the point I was but I was still smiling & joking with hubby.:)
For pain relief all I really did was walk & have DH keep my mind off things & read goss magz or watched Tv. Put my focus on something other then the contractions.
At 1pm the Dr came & broke my waters, which I found the most painful part! And told me I was 4cm dialated.
This got my contractions coming hard, fast & back to back with no relief, the midwife turned off the drip hoping this would slow things down & let me get a break but my body took over.
When I had my DS drug free & went into labour natural it was like this.. constant pain no release the midwife had no idea why my body does this.. as contractions stop & go etc.. but with me they don't stop.
The midwife then went to check how dialated I was.. as soon as she started checking I said "I need to push"
In one push her head was out, but her shoulders got stuck.. she pushed the emergancy button & the room filled with midwifes, and Drs, 2 women jumped on my stomach & started pushing as I had DH & more ppl pulling my legs back to get the shoulders out.. another push... and she was HERE!!!
It happend so quick my OB didn't even make it in time, he got there huffing & puffing after she was born. lol
She was placed on my chest only for a min as she was born so blue & wasn't moving or crying my DH was so scared .. they worked on her for a bit.. and I heard a tiny cry come across from the other side of the room. Her 1st noise.. she was then placed in my arms for a 1st cuddle & feed before taken to SPU for the day.
I lost a lot of blood, and in the following days I was told I am anemic, & I had fevers for 3 days.. that they couldn't understand why I also had pieces of placenta left behind which thankfully came away a few days later & didn't have to have surgery, my daughter also got jaundice & spent 24hrs under the lights which she hated. After a 5 day stay in hospital I was home!
After a very hard pregnancy with so much illness, inc gestational diabetes.. & then to be sick for 3 days after the birth.. I was so relieved to have my long awaited daughter. It was though the best birth I have had & the midwifes & hospital staff was wonderful!
She has 3 brothers that love her to bits and a very proud daddy!
And a mummy that is on cloud 9 so in love with her lil girl.:cloud9: My family is now complete!
