View Full Version : Cold Weather List
Lets get a list of where to go and what to do, with bubs, on Sydneys North Side, while it's cold.:babydust2:
Please post anything you think is great, I've run out of ideas for my toddler so would love to hear what's around!!:babydust2::babydust2:
ok so my knowledge is limited as I've only got bub 1 so am learning as I go:
-Kids Central Chatswood Chase, has an indoor closed in play area in the middle of it's coffee shop.
-Hornsby Westfield has a climbing play thing inside the centre, it's really for bigger kids than my bub but she likes it, it can get really busy though (probably 'cause it's free)
-I hear Wizzy World in Chatswood is good, have not been though so am going on hearsay
-The Flower Market in Terry Hills has a coffee shop/restaurant, it's got a play area, it is outside but have found bub can play a bit eat a bit and she loves to go and look at the flowers.
Any more suggestions would be fantastic, am sure there has to be more out there?
What's around the beaches, North Sydney or Macquarie Park? I'll keep a look out through winter and post anything good I find:babydust2:
Good idea Sai!
My brain has gone pretty well blank!!
Wizzy World is good. Its HORRID in the school holidays in rainy weather though!!
I had to join North Ryde RSL to go to my favourite yum cha restaurant now that I've moved into the area. They have a pretty cool play centre (Tribal Zone or something) in there. Its probably for olderish kids (as in 2+ at least)...but I still haven't been...I'm sure I will go soon if this rain keeps up!!
Lane Cove Aquatic Centre is great. They have shallowish areas for kids and its super duper warm inside and in the water.
...and when all else fails, chuck their gumboots and raincoats on and let them go nuts in all the puddles for half an hour before a bath!!
Will think through some more ideas and write again later!!
From Nifty:
Here my ideas:
When it rains i sometimes make biscuits. Just the easy shortcrust ones. I've got cookie cutters an he does the rolling out and the cutting.
If its not raining i go to the beach. I dress him realy warm and then we make sandcastles or he just runs around.

Try Softplay (Westfield Chatswood Lvl 6), but stay away during school holidays lol.
Wizzy world is OK. Kids Central is good for younger kids.

My little boy is still excited just to go to Manly Wharf and watch the ferries come and go.
We've only been in Sydney for a few months so I'm not sure how long I can get away with that for!?!
Good to see you other suggestions, though fingers crossed we won't need indoors activies too much

Playdaze at Gladesville is great as they can really run, and there is stuff for little ones too (and nice banana bread!)
Last year I enrolled both my kids in an indoor sports program (Sports kickstart) it was fantastic. They got a fun session of going mental every week and learnt about sports too. (runs at various indoor sports centres all over the north shore)
West Ryde library does story time at 11am on fridays - they do a story, a song and a craft item and it's free. Only runs during the school term though.

I have a younger bub, but going to the library - particularly to meet up with friends - can be pretty nice. I think most libraries have story times which are pretty sweet.
Checking out the puppies at the pet shop in westfields can be fun, but not really a long-term way of keeping children entertained!
