Can i tell a little "white lie"?

I have a job interview on friday and my 2 referees are impossible to get ahold of and neither of them ever get back to their left messages.
the interviewer has told me that they need a referee that has supervised me, but just as i said, they are impossible to reach.

Could i tell a little white lie and also add another person to my refernences and say that they have supervised me (with their consent of cause?) just incase they cannot get ahold of the other 2?.

I do not want my employer to know that i am looking for another job and i know that he will not give me the credit i deserve if he was phoned directly.

Hmmm, I probably wouldn't do that, as this new employer will ring your referee and in the course of the conversation will no doubt bring up that this person was meant to have supervised you.

I would just be frank and say these are the people that supervised me, but I've been unable to reach them.
