View Full Version : Wedding Dress online
Hi Has anyone bought a wedding or bridesmaid dress online? Specifically from China?
Any success/horror stories?
Thanks
I haven't personally, but my sister in-law bought her wedding dress online from China. I wouldn't recommend doing it. The dress she actually recieved is different to the dress that was pictured in the advertisement. Although it is still an OK dress (wearable), it's not what she wanted.

They totally stuffed up my measurements and were hopeless with communication.
I ended up with a full refund and big ivory potato sack.

I ordered my bridesmaid dresses online from the USA. The only problem we had was with their sizing (which was just so bizarre) Both my bridesmaids were beanpolls and we couldn't get dresses in a small enough size so we had to alter them on arrival in Austr. Other than that I had no problems and the dresses were so much better than the small picture I had seen on the net.
Also it cost half of what I would have had to spend to get the same dress in Austr -

I've heard some people have had success with online (read ebay) china dress sellers. Others haven't so much ;)
Thing is, a lot of Aussie stores i've seen online get their clothing from china anyway, some are not so free about that information as well so it pays to research if you really care about where the clothing is coming from :)
The bonus, of course, is that its cheap!

I didn't order my dress online, but a lady that came into the local bridal shop where my dress came from did. She was devastated, it was 1 month before her wedding and the side seams had fallen apart on her, the dress was unrepairable and she had to get another one. I wouldn't chance it, they might be a lot cheaper but you get what you pay for!

Ohhhh yes I am the online dress ordered from way back!
1. I ordered a cheapo white dress from a china wedding dress shop on ebay. It was an absolute NIGHTMARE! 2 months later it turned up, in black. Was a horror trying to do anything about it, i wont go into it but i ended up getting half of my money back. DO NOT ORDER IT! Its not worth the stress.
2. I ordered my wedding dress from USA. I got a Maggie Sottero dress (www.maggiesottero.com (http://www.maggiesottero.com)). Tried it on in a shop in Sydney for size, then ordered it from www.bridalgown.net (http://www.bridalgown.net) . They have a good BBB rating (better business berau which is similar to our Dept of Fair trading) and had good reviews, also I knew someone else who had boguht for them. So my $1900 dress ended up costing me $950 with postage insurance etc from them. Even comes with certificate of authenticity. Fantastic!
3. I bought all of my bridesmaids dresses from amazon. Just went off measurements. They ended up costing $100au each, including postage they were fantastic! Here it is http://www.ahm.com.au/content/showpagenum.asp?Page=2078 .
I am the internet shopping queen lol.
PM me if you want photos from my wedding of the dresses :)

I agree with this most of the time. But there are exceptions, like in my case where I was getting the exact same dress, from the same designer and factory, but as with most things, was cheaper directly from USA.

I should have worded it a bit better! Cheap stuff from China yes, don't risk it. I could have ordered my Alfred Angelo gown online, but didn't find this out until AFTER I had already ordered it. I would have saved around $400!
