Hi there
My husband is taking 2 weeks off work starting next week and as we live only a few hours from Canberra, I thought perhaps it might be nice to take a day trip up there and take our 3.5yo to Questacon and/or the National Zoo.
I'm wondering though, do you think my son is too young to enjoy Questacon? I haven't been there since I was about 12 so I have no idea what to expect.
Do you think we should just go to the Zoo instead? Or is there anything else around that's worth a few hours drive that would interest a 3.5yo?
Thanks so much!!

Questacon is great and plenty there to keep a 3.5 year old happy. They have a special area dedicated to the under 5's.

I agree with Chelle. Mini Q is so much fun! But bring a dry top as there is a big water play area - with the cold weather you wouldn't want him to have to stay in a wet top.
Otherwise, you can't go wrong with the Zoo as you've already mentioned. Off the top of my head I can't think of anywhere else that's worth the day trip for a child of that age.

I've so been wanting to take DS to questacon for ages. I think he'd have a ball there.
I'm trying to think of all the fun stuff for kids in Canberra and I'm struggling. DS was only 7 months old when we left so we didn't get to do all those things.
Questacon is good
And the zoo is great too
If your after something for free- at the War Memorial they have a kids section that is all hands on and its great and the National Museum is free too and it has a kids section downstairs that they can make their own space ship and have their face on tv and put into 3D.
Gold Creek Village has a Reptile Park/House, a Dinosaur Museum and then Cockington Green and a walk through Avery.
There is alot to do, you'd be very surprised once you start looking.
I dont think he is too young to enjoy any of these. My boys are under 4 and they love it all.
As just a day trip Questacon can take a while to get through if you dont push him through everything, so id aim for one and then if you have time and he isnt totally exhausted then go for another :) Just my opinion though.

Thanks girls  I think we'll just aim to do one or the other at this time. We can always take another day trip another time.
I'm really excited now
