When my 1st daughter was born, while we were still in hospital, I changed her nappy and there was a small amount of blood there.
Luckily I had already read about it so wasn't freaked out. I "think" it's something to do with the hormones from the mother. It was only a small amount and only that once, shortly after she was born.
My other daughter didn't get it at all and none of my friends daughters did either.
Yep, some newborn girls can have vaginal spotting because they had build up the lining of their uterus in response to the mother's estrogen and progesterone. When the baby girl is born, she no longer is exposed to those hormones, so the lining deteriorates, and she may bleed a little.
Did you also know that both baby boys and girls can have a small amount of milky discharge from their nipples for the same reasons. It's called "witch's milk".
Freaky huh?

yeh my daughter had spotting for about a week after her birth it was funny because my mum who has had 4 daughters had never heard about it either and she freaked a bit LOL.
No milky nipples tho LOL.
some men can lactate too. And even if a woman has never been pregnent some can (eventually) stimulate a small flow of milk. Some wemon can still get a bit of milk decades after they have stopped feeding!

Yea I read about that before my daughter was born but it didn't happen to her. I didn't know about the milky discharge though, good to know for next time in case it happens.
