Hey there
anyone moving to Darwin or looking for a playgroup? I'm from St Peters Playgroup (cnr Sabine Rd & Trower Rd, Nightciff) and we could do with a few new members... so come and try us out! There's organised craft, as well as song/story time... We're a friendly bunch. :)
Mondays 9-11am (we break for public & school holidays).

This is good to know as my partner is 90% sure of taking a job up in Darwin and I have 2 year old boy. I have saved the website and will be in touch if/when the move happens.
I was hoping also that you may be able to help me with early learning/childcare. My son goes to a Montessori based learning session once a week at the moment and I was hoping that there was something like that in Darwin. I have found Essington Early Childhood Centre which I think is Montessori based. Are you able to provide me with any info/opinions on this? Anything would be great.
Thanks

Hi there!
Yeah it would be great to see you at St Peters Playgroup if you do end up moving here! I have a 4 yr old & a 2 yr old (both boys).
I have quite a few friends who send their kids to Essington (they really like it). It's probably considered to be the best private school in Darwin. I believe the early childhood centre is somewhat Montessori based, but the school is not so much. (There are also a few other alternate learning type schools in Darwin eg. Steiner school & another one???)
In terms of childcare... get in early! I'm a stay at home, but friends have gone where ever they can get their kids in rather than the top/best childcare centre... but they all seem happy enough.
In terms of kids activities, there are heap for the 0-4 range. There's FunBus, a free council run mobile playgroup service, in a different park each morning. There's 'Three Year Old Kindy' in Rossiter St, Nightcliff, which offers 2 hour sessions from 2.9 years of age up until 4. The libraries all have their story/song time. There's an amazing Waterpark in Leanyer which is free, with kiddie friendly waterslides. You won't be bored!
Anyway I am more than happy to answer any more questions!

Thanks for your reply. It all sounds great and somewhere for me to start. We are 90% sure that we are moving and if so will be in Darwin around the end of August. I think I might put Alex's name on a couple of waiting lists then just to get the ball rolling. Like I said before I'll keep your playgroup listing filed and definitely be in touch when we are there.
Thanks again for your help.
