I just got back from the pharmacy
Two or three days ago, DD developed a nice-looking (sarcastic!) pimple on the side of her chin. It burst and developed this awful-looking yellow crust, which was fairly inflamed. I've been trying to treat it with antiseptic cream, but its been having no effect, so, at my mum's suggestion, I took her to the chemist, and he says that it's a school sore! How did she get that? She hasn't been around any other kids for ages......
Having said that, I hope that's what it is, cause I know they, at least, can be fairly easily treated...I hope its not a cold sore!
Off to the doctor for us tomorrow.
I was quite shocked when i took my daughter to the docs yesterday for a sore on her nose and found out that she too has school sores!!! it must be going around at the moment
they are horrible and my daughter is now on antibiotics to treat it
be carefull that it doesnt get transfered to other open wounds she might have, my daughter had a mozzie bite on her foot that has now turned into a school sore, and she also had a scrape on her bottom form falling over and that also has turned into a school sore , make sure she washes her hands really well after wiping or touching her nose cause is spreads very quickly !!
oops i meant her chin !!!!

Unfortunately, she's only 11 months old - so I can't get her to wash her hands! I can't even keep her hands away from it....
But I took her to the GP today, and thankfully she doesn't need oral antis, just a cream - at least for now.

Hellllloooo School Sores !!:gloomy:
DS had these when he was about 12 months and they just kept coming back time and time again.
The Staph virus that causes them lives in the nose so if you have Bactroban oitment, lather the sores in it (and cover them) then wipe a little cream up her nose every second day for about a month.
Bathe her in antiseptic wash and wash all bedlinen, towels etc regularly.
It worked for us !:fingerscrossed:

also cut her fingernails really low so there are not so many germies festering away under her nails,,

Thanks Abbymonique - i'll keep that in mind.
Well, after a week of treatment she's still got the sores on her face (great tip about putting the cream up her nose, RM - thanks!)
She bit me the other night mid-breastfeed and the wounds have now become school sores on my nipples. I'm in pain, very muchly! I have been on antibiotics for 2 days because of it.
I'm hoping this will all clear up veyr very soon
