My three month old bub was diagnosed with silent reflux...not too much vomiting, more fretting and back arching during his bottle. He's been on zantac twice a day for about a month and hates it, I sometimes manage to get it down him and half the time he spits it out, poor bub i don't like giving it to him at all!
It does seem to work however, is terrible feeding him without it.
A friend gave me some stick packs of s26 AR formula for babies with reflux. He drankit pretty well, vomited a tiny bit but ok.
My question is, has anyone used it, how did it go and did you have to continue with the zantac if you started it??? Or has anyone had success without resorting to zantac or losec?? Ta for reading....

I have used it, my daughter has had great results with it!
I had her Nestle Nan, that caused constipation, so we put her onto NAN HA, and that actually caused reflux!
So onto S-26 AR and she LOVED it. Although you do need fast flow teats and because she didnt like other teats i had to go out and buy her all avent bottles :o
She is over 6months now so she is ont he progress formula and no reflux at all! But because it is not thickened i have had to give her more solids! (she has her big breakfast, lunch AND dinner with 4 bottels and she still wakes up at night  )
BUt the AR defiantly reduced and eventually stopped her reflux.

We tried s26 AR but personally disliked it as it was so blumn thick you couldnt get it out of the teats so yes if your going to use it have fast flow teats on hand. I found infacol mixed with the formula helps heaps

My son is 10 weeks now and was diagnosed by our paedatrician with heartburn, which is very similar to reflux as they both have to do with the amount of acid coming up the throat from the stomach.
I have tried S26 AR but found it gave Tysen who was 3 weeks at the time constipation. We where then told to try Karicare AR which also made him constipated. We now at week 10 have him on Novalc AR REFLUX which can be purchased at most chemists which is working really well. We also use the narrow skinny Tommy Tippy teats as the size 0 avent teats are still to fast as he sucks like a vaccum.
We have had Tysen on Zantac for three days now and its work great, he slept for 3 hours today where normally he screams all day and can go up to 10 with only sleeping 10 to 15 mintues every couple of hours.
We give Tysen 1ml just before his bottle as it allows him to keep it down. he did gag at first but is getting alot better. Our paeditrician said it doesn't matter when you give them the Zantac what ever works for you. Have you tried tasting it, it's awful no wonder the babies gag.

Ta for all your replies...it's not a fun thing to go through is it?
I had some left over regular formula and tried him with it and it was very hard...lots of wriggling and crying etc, so switched back to s26ar which he drinks more of but still seems to be uncomfortable...he's on 2ml zantac a day and weighs over 8 kg, think I'll take him back to the doc. Read about a naturopath on another thread, would like to try it as i feel bad giving medication to a tiny bub

My bubs has reflux it isnt bad but I just use karicare gold and use the karicare thickener to add to the formula... I only use one scoop and not the recommended 3 (as the bottles turn into thickshakes) and my bubs very rarely throws up now and I also stopped the zantac... he is fine without the meds.

I found with mine the AR formulas were no good!! I use Heinze formula and add my own karicare thickener.
The teats we use are the nuk latex cross cut teats (with the skinny bottles). they are fantastic!! the outlet (instead of a hole) is in a "x", and will only allow the milk out that bubby sucks. It is great with the clag glue consistancy of our formula!!
All three of mine were reflux - 1 silent, 1 projectile and now DD3 is a bit of both!!
