My name is Emma, long-time lurker, first-time poster, in search of a little advice.

I miscarried a nine-week pregnancy on New Years Eve (Happy New Year indeed). Since then my fiancé and I have been careful in terms of conceiving, he wants us to wait until the end of the year when we are more financially sound – smart and sensible really and I love him all the more for it, but it’s left me heartbroken because I still feel a bit robbed and lost without my little Peanut :(

What I’m getting at – I’m wondering if we may have conceived a little early. I can’t really remember any early symptoms from my last pregnancy (basically I think the shock of a miscarriage was enough and I’ve completely blocked it out, I don’t even remember being in the hospital and I’ve struggled with this for months because I have no real sense of closure). Wondering if anyone could possibly put my mind at rest? I don’t want to get my hopes up and then be so disappointed again.

- My period isn’t due until Thurs/Fri but for the past couple of weeks we have noticed things that are raising a little red flag – I had breast pain for a few days (to the point where I was checking for lumps because it was so isolated, then I thought I had just slept wrong, possibly with my boob smashed up against the hard plastic control on my electric blanket!) and now they both just feel heavy, not really sore, but a few twinges/pinches here and there.

- I wake up about four times to pee during the night, and two weeks ago I was racing to the bathroom every half hour (which I remember from the first pregnancy as being the red flag for conception), Thursday two weeks ago I had a very sharp isolated pain in my lower abdomen, which then ebbed for an hour or so and went away (I was working a late shift so it’s easy to remember when), at the time I thought it was strange since it was so out of place in my cycle.

- I feel queasy and nauseated – the smell of my shampoo made me want to gag two nights ago and I can’t wear my perfume, and I’m also starving – I was awake for hours last night with a sick feeling to my stomach and then a mild case of heartburn.

- I'm really rundown and tired, a bit like catching a flu, lower abdomen is really hard, nipples are a bit sensitive and possibly spread (though this might be my imagination) and my back and feet have been aching - maybe I'm just coming down with something, I don't know.

I am very confused because we have been so careful, charting ovulation, using condoms, etc; I think I am only 8DPO but symptoms can’t have hit me this early, can they? I want a baby so badly and I’m hoping this is not all in my head.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Em x

Hi Emma
first of all, I'm sorry to hear about your m/c :hugs:

I can't give you any advice based on personal experience as we are still ttc our first. But all of your symptoms sound like they *could* indicate pregnancy, but the only way you'll know is to poas. It's only early so unfortunately that means you'll have to wait another few days !

Given all the precautions you and your fiance' have been taking, if you actually are pregnant, then this little one really wants to come into the world at this time.

Good luck, let us know how you go with the testing.:)

so sorry for your loss Em :hugs: :hugs: With my first pregnancy I didn't have any symptoms until AF was late but we were trying so I did POAS before AF was due and it was a very faint positive that got darker with time. But my second pregnancy we know when it happened because it was a one off without contraception (moving house - last night in our old place, condoms were already packed!!) anyway, I felt 'symptoms' within a week of DTD and avoided alcohol as I just had a feeling....it took another week and a half to get a positive test, but I knew. So best of luck to you...I hope you get the outcome you want :)

by the way, my first was a DS and the second was a DD so I have a theory that preg symptoms are much more pronouced much earlier with a girl (or multiple birth!!)
