View Full Version : Why is it that I dont feel sick until...
Well I have just discovered Im preggers, and throwing up 2 times in a week was not co-incidence.
On both occasions I felt absolutely fine in the mornings before breakfast UNTIL I ate cereal and tea....
I am not ready to test the theory yet of it being the milk in general? or the tea? or too much milk from the cereal?
Interesting thing though, as I have been unware over the past few weeks, I have still been eating tea and cereal/ tea and toast up until now. But I do remember thinking that the tea didn't have a good after taste and sometimes didnt feel great after drinking it -but nothing come of it -until now.
And I find it interesting that I wasn't feeling nauseous when I first woke up before breaky, only after I ate.
Maybe it is still very early on (do know how many weeks I am) and I am yet to get more severe reactions.
Has anyone else reacted to milk or tea? I miss my cup of tea!

In my experience morning sickness has no rhyme or reason it just does what it wants:laughing:
I used to find i would feel sick if i made my tea too strong, i made it weaker with a little sugar.
Sorry im not much help

hi, my only problem with morning sickness was from milk. I was never actually sick, but as soon as I had milk I would feel so nausous (sp?) for hours afterwards. I just stared to have toast and orange juice for breaky and I was fine. Maybe give lactose free milk a try, if you think the milk is the cause. Marie.

do you have your tea as soon as you get out of bed? if you wait too long you end up sick and throw up but i found if you have a tea literally as soon as you get up you should keep it down. get up and head straight for the kettle!!

morning sickness is indeed weird... i never vomitted but i would start gagging as soon as i walked into the bathroom... toothpaste made my mouth water and my throat tighten... HORRIBLE lol.
i'd say it might be an overkill of milk first thing in the morning...
Yup that breakfast cuppa did it every time.
and I drink it black...so no milk factor there.
I think it was something to do with the tannins in the black tea.
I basically ended up giving up ordinary tea, drank mostly herbals which didn't seem to affect me.

Same thing happened to me - felt fine in the morning until I ate. That started when I was about 8 weeks pregnant - I'm now 33 weeks pregnant and STILL the only thing I can eat for breakfast is a vegemite sandwich with just a tiny bit of margerine.
I've tried introducing different foods back in at breakfast but I end up vomitting them back up (yes, still at 33 weeks) - I've tried raisin toast, museli, yoghurt, coco pops, corn flakes, english muffins, bacon, fruit - you name it, i've tried to eat it for breakfast but my body/baby doesn't want it! Vegemite sandwiches are the only thing that don't end up coming back up again.
Needless to say I hate vegemite sandwiches now, and only eat them because I have no other choice! After this baby is born I'm never touching another vegemite sandwich again.
Its not until around 10.30am that I can then eat anything I like. Morning sickness is strange... my advice would be to try having your tea later on around midday.
All the best!
Well it looks like for now I am the same as you Mummy1988, all I can eat in the morning is vegemite on toast....so over it as much as i like vegemite and toast.
I found I can only drink water too (over that too). Tried a few sips of tea last week (was 7 weeks than) and made me feel sick for the rest of the day.
Have managed to have a few small half glasses of orange juice.
I have started taking the Blackmores Morning Sickness pills (ginger basically) and it seems to have helped.

Morning sickness is just a PITA!
I was the oposite, i felt grose untill i ate but would only each thing with Vegimate on them. Didnt matter if it was bread, toast or corn thins. As long as the veg was on it, it stayed down.

For my second pregnancy I found that the vit.B helped with the MS! Maybe this is why the Vegemite is ssssoooooo attractive whilst pregnant!
I've been suffering with nausea and a really sick feeling since my 4th week! I'm in my 7th now. In the mornings the first thing I feel like is Juice - but just a sip, and then cereal must be eaten within say 20 mins of being out of bed.
I gave up black tea two weeks ago because I found I wasn't getting through the cup and wasn't enjoying it.
It seems everyone is very different so just find something that works for you and listen to what your body is asking for rather than sticking to an old routine :)
