Im working tonight so DH is in charge of dinner. And DD is so sick of fishcakes (all he can cook :D ) she begged me to do dinner before work. So im thinking meatballs. Nice and easy and all DH has to do is the pasta. However i have not cooked them in ages.

Whats your recipies of meatballs?
Can i cook them in a slow cooker with just a jar of pasta sauce? And for how long?
Can i sneak some vegies into them?

TIA:wave:

I make porcupine meatballs, you add uncooked rice, carrot and grated onion, salt and pepper and 1/4 cup milk (to combine) to 500g mince (but you can add zucchini maybe as well?)

Roll them into balls and pop them into simmering tomato soup (condensed) with a can of water. I simmer mine for around 30 mins and serve with pasta :D The leftover tomato soup can be a sauce for the pasta and you can add grated cheese on top.

My boys love them

I use sausage mince and add herbs, sundried tomato, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, roll up in balls and bake in oven, meanwhile in another bakeing tray put whole tomatos, olives, capsicum, chillies and onions and bake. Should all take about the same time. Put the tomatos ect in a pot on stove top, mash roughly to brake up add tomato paste and worchester, garlic, basil and season, cook a little then serve on pasta topping with meatballs.

I just get the mince (1kg), add 2 eggs, a grated carrot...

heat oil in pan

put flour in a bowl

roll into little balls and cover in flour and fry...

then add whatever sauce you like. you can get ready made sauces, such as tuscan meat ball sauce from the supermarket.

or just throw some tinned tomato's and tomato paste an mixed herbs and whatever else you normally do to a boglanaise on them.

I use my Nan's recipe.

1kg Mince beef (she also adds about 1/4 mince pork)
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
Grated parmesan cheese, about a handful
Parsley finely chopped
2 fresh garlic cloves finely chopped
Salt

Fry in pan on low heat

They're awesome she also used to chicken too. Her's always taste better though because she would buy steak or chicken in bulk and make her own mince with a mincer. Less fat that way too.
