Hi,

My 15 week old daughter is currently on Losec as prescribed by my Dr. Her dose has been increased to 1 tablet twice a day. I have noticed that she has had a lot of wind in the last couple of weeks. She fluffs alot ( real smelly ones) and burps alot. She has also started waking during the night with wind pain whereas previously she would sleep really well at night.
Just wanted to know if anyone else who babies have used losec have had increased wind problems. I thought most of the wind issues were supposed to start decreasing after 12 weeks of age...
I am due to see my Dr this Friday and I have seen on another thread that there are alternative therapies I could try for her reflux if stopping losec will help her wind pains.

Thanks

Hi Bec
Looked up Losec at Drugs.com and it said one of the more common side effects is Abdominal cramping and aches, so it could well be the cause of you babys problems. It also said that when the body got used to the drug that the effects would go away. I suggest that you go back to your DR and explain whats happening. Sometimes you have to weigh up whats worse, your babys reflux or the pains.
Hope this helps
Good luck! I hope your baby gets comfortable soon! :fingerscrossed:

Hi,
my son is also on Losec and had alot of wind pain. I thought it could have been the Losec but the paed didn't seem to think so. I found that the wind pain only stopped for us when I went dairy free (was breastfeeding and some comp feeds) and then went onto Neocate (prescription formula) Once the Neocate started he was a new child with no wind or pains at all! He has since be diagnosed as lactose intolerant.

good luck
