My friggen idiot FIL is such a lazy drop kick, omg im so angrey at him atm, i have alot of issues with this guy, hes in his 50's hes seperated from his wife (she left him, no wonder if u ask me!), and he has a new gf, who doesnt want to see him for the last few weeks...

anyways, the issues, he drinks alcohol every weekend, some days after work, and half the time either leaves the empty cans/bottles on the table, the bottle caps on the ground etc, well tonight, im p*ssed off, he got home frm work saw bub sitting at her little plastic table and chairs in the lounge room while i got her dinner ready, then she got up and ran out the front with BIL and FIL put his alcohol can on her table and walked out the front to, i was busy in the kitchen getting dinner ready then i came out of the kitchen to find bub, and she was at her plastic table and chairs with his can of alcohol, now we've been living here in this house for about 10 mths, you would think that any normal adult would be able to think, oh wait i cant leave that down there is a toddler int he house, but no not him!

every friggen day he smokes inside, ususally with her in another room, but ive got asthma, which is really bad atm coz of him and DP smoking around me, i finally 2 wks ago got DP to stop smoking inside and around me, and its made a big difference, but FIL leaves the asstrays on the table where bub gets to them and if i dont get to them first she comes to me saying yucky with *** all over her hands.

i shoudlnt' have taught her NOT to rip the smokes apart, maybe i should let her do that again,a nd teach them.

grrgrrgrrgrrgrr:hair:

somedays i wish i haddnt moved to QLD for DP, that i had made him move to NSW to be with me.

*sigh*

gee .... sounds familiar story .... I don't know what advice to give you but hope it get better.
I was in a simlar situation I wish we were in NSW rather then QLD near his family.... We had problems with Dogs inside which isn't quite as bad as smoking when we were living with the inlaws.

You might have already done this but Try explaing to them they your bub will end up with asthma too from the smoke and to go out side.

Whose house is it??? If its yours lay down the law but if its his you should look at getting your own place for the health of your child. Personally I think common sense tells you not to leave cans of beer around a child or smoke around a child but I dare say your FIL was doing this around his own kids hence your DP doing it. I think if you take up residence in someone elses home then you need to deal with their habits. So if its your place, set him straight as you need to protect your child who cant protect themself.

its his house, and i do respect its his house, but, he needs to respect a toddlers health and my health, last night i had been nnot coping the best with the smoking around me, so i got up and opened all the doors turned the fans on and went out of the room for a few mins, mostly to get my puffer but partially to get away from it, then after DP got home FIL was sitting on the other side of the room to me, but got up and moved to right beside me and chain smoked about 8 smokes in a row, to the point where i was having a asthma attack and DP helped me up and out of the room to have my puffer, FIL did it on purpose coz he was ****ed off i told DP about the alcohol incident.

i am going away in a month for a week, then we are applying for units to rent, DP is being pretty good about not smoking around me anymore, and wont leave a drink on the floor while bub is there usually wont drink while bub is around coz he knows how easily she can get to them when hes distracted.

FIL is just an *******, hes doing things to push us out the door faster.

prime example, i do ALL the cleaning in the house, except BIL and FIL washing, coz its their responsibility not mine, im not their mother/partner, but i was sick last week and couldnt even look after bub for a couple of days, so FIL had to clean up DP worked all week or was at home with bub, and BIL is just plain outright lazy, so FIL stormed around swearing and carryin on while doing it, and then went off at us all saying he was raising our rent coz he had to clean all the time, bull.. grr. when i do everything i have just do it, when he does some of it he wants to raiseour rent up to $100 a fortnight more. we already pay the majority of the rent, even though there is 3 other people in the house beside us.

He should care about the childrens health, however if he is going to continue to drink and smoke around them like that then I would consider moving to another house
