Hi,
DF and I just moved to Brisbane- I was booked in at Tweed Hospital but I think it would be better to be booked into a hospital that is CLOSE to where we are living!! Has anyone had their children at Redcliffe Hospital? or heard anything about this hospital as this is the closest hospital to where we are.
Thanks
Jessi

Hi:wave:
I had my daughter nearly 2 yrs ago at redcliffe i found it ok she is my first so dont have anything to compare it with. The midwives where mostly nice. I remember it being a really long walk from the front carpark to the midwives clinic. If there is anything specific you wanted to know ask as i found it pretty good the rooms are old and stuff but pretty good i was in a room with 2 other mums.
Well good luck hope everything goes well for you:thumbsup:

Hi,
I was born at Redcliffe Hospital nearly 37 years ago (god, I feel old now). My first son was one of the last babies to be born in the old wing before they tore it down. I have never had any problems with this hospital. DS#1 spent several sessions there overnight and in isolation at different time for the first few years. They are always very helpful.
A little tip. If antenatal is still around the back, you can park in the street at the back of the hospital and I don't think it costs you anything. Turn off Anzac ave at McDonalds and go to the roundabout then turn left again and follow it around. I always parked there and never had a problem.
Hope this helps.
Joanne.

yeah, ive been here 24hrs and im noticing already! although, im kind of welcoming the change now- the Gold Coast is becomming too plastic and people there are really getting rude!
Do they have baths at Redcliffe Hosp? I had planned to be immersed in water most for most of my birth at Tweed... so was hoping for something similar. Do they encourage active births and allow you to have music going?

Hi Jessi,
A lot of friends of mine have had their babies at Redcliffe hospital and had no complaints.
You may want to check if you can get booked in as a friend of mine who is due in September, was not able to get in as they are fully booked, and has had to book into Caboolture.........she lives in Kippa Ring.

Give the Maternity Ward a call and see if they have any vacancies. You never know, someone may have cancelled????

well, I just called and spoke to the Antenatal clinic and they said they'd send me out my appointment time for next week... I asked if they had room for me in September and the lady assured me it would be fine!
Did your friend actually get an appointment and then go there and be told they couldnt have her?

Not sure what she did, I will call her later to let her know.....

Sorry.....took me a little longer to reply.
When my friend tried to book in for her first appt with the hospital, she was told she wouldn't be able to get an appt until she was 23weeks!!!!!
So rather than wait that long, she was able to get an appt straight away with Caboolture Hospital and is now happy with them so she won't be changing.

I had my daughter there 4 years ago - no problems from my end..
I did shared care with my GP in Redcliffe - so I never had to go to the hospital for an appointment until my last trimester.

Trust me - Redcliffe take people in labour straight off the streets! I was made to wait (even tho I had had all my prenatal care at Redcliffe) because two mothers in labour who had never been to Redcliffe before managed to push in front! Of course I understand that they couldn't turn them away
You can still park right outside the clinic on the street with McDonalds on the corner.
I had my daughter there 3 months ago and I found the doctors to be excellent! The hospital itself is fine, a little dreary in colour scheme but fine otherwise. There are a couple of midwives there to watch out for but I guess you get that anywhere. Also they don't have baths there. Caboolture apparently do and they have a refurbished maternity ward.
FYI - The Royal Brisbane have a ballot system if you live out of the area but you need to put your name down asap and you might get in.
Good luck with your choice.

*grins* Meg - I had one not so nice midwife there - told me I wasnt in pre term labour when I was lmao (had a massive fight with her until I asked to see a superior and had another midwife get an OB) .. but you can get that anywhere.

Hello.
At the moment I'm living in Redcliffe, but I'll be moving in September down to the Gold Coast. So I"m unsure about what to do in this situation about hospitals, midwife & doctors.
Should I go to the local midwife & doc then find one when we move? Or should i go down b4 we move to have a visits so don't have to rush around finding somewhere?? or should i just stay with local doctor but go to midwife on the gold coast??
Has anyone been in this situation before??

Ok, I've decided to do share care, so see my Doc for all the stuff & just go to hospital when I need my scans. Then when we move to Gold coast I'll see if can see a midwife at the hospital.
