View Full Version : Did anyone not wear high heels on their wedding day?
I'm already 6 foot and not in any need of the extra inches high heels would give me, but looking around at shoes they are all high heels and in my shoe size 12 there really is not much choice :(
Will I be the only bride to have worn flats?
To answer my own question... surely beach brides don't wear heels :detective:

I recently went to a wedding where she wore flats.. and still looked GORGEOUS
and a family friend got married on the beach and just wore you like those thai jewel chains on her feet. Just gorgeous!

I just wanted to wear flats... but I found a pair of shoes I have from my Deb from school and wore those as my something old.
But I wouldn't have a problem with it.... Esp if you are tall.... How tall is your partner?? .... There are plenty (maybe not size 12) of really nice dressy flat shoes these days.

He is just over 6, maybe 6'1" or 2" with his boofy hair (depends if he has a cut b4 wedding )
It is very hard to find anything in size 12 :( But I am looking at having a pair imported if I find the right ones...

I wore flats and i'm so glad i did
I was comfortable all day and i still looked good as they matched well with my dress.
I am hopeless in heels so i wasn't about to attempt walking down the aisle in them ;)

I'm not a shoe person and have told DP if we get married he can expect me to turn up in a pair of Converses because I won't wear heels.
Flats would be fine. I may be naive, but whose looking at the shoes at weddings??? :o

I didn't! I bought pearly white Havianas and was very comfortable.
We were married at home (a surprise to our housewarming party guests) though I would have worn them even if we had a "traditional" wedding day.

I wore ballet slippers. They are hard to find in Oz but I found a shop in the states and they were actually designed for bridal wear. They were extremely comfortable. My sister also wore ballet slippers for her wedding. You need to be comfy!
I wore flat gold thongs....fancy one's! They cost me $30 from a discount shoe store and I still wear them now with my regular clothes..two years after the wedding.
I was 19 weeks pregnant...no way in the world was I wearing heels!
i wore leather ivory coloured thongs at our beach wedding but went barefoot for alot of it - we even have pics of DH carrying them for me... haha... oh and i am size 11 shoe...

I hate highheels so I won't be wearing them when/if I get married.
I wore flat Silver sandals and I loved them!!! Won't have changed a thing about that decision! Sooooooooooooooo comfy :yelclap:
I wore high heels at 14 weeks pregnant and have never regretted anything so much! I was in pain before I even walked down the aisle, let alone the rest of the day and evening. A friend recently wore white Skechers, and you wouldn't have known if she hadn't told us. She was so comfortable, I wish I'd had that idea!
I wore flats. Hubby is short.

as i was 6 months pregnant at my wedding with our second i wore flats. i was really glad i did too as my legs ached by the end of the day. i actually kicked the shoes off when we got to the reception too :o.
i have large feet too (size 10) and i just hunted around until i found some nice white ballet type slipper shoes.
if you are wearing a long dress no one is really going to notice shoes anyway.

I also wore ballet slippers, white Jiffies! They were comfortable and noone could see them anyway because I wore had a full, long skirt..
My husband and I are the same height, so I didnt want to add height - and I did ballet as a little girl so it was a sentimental moment to put on ballet slippers on my wedding day.. :goodvibes:
I didn't :)
I'm sure the Mrs was very disappointed

I had a fairly formal wedding dress, it wasn't boofy but straight and had a bit of a train etc and I wore patent leather thongs. No one had any idea. I am a size 11 and an inch taller than DH so I didn't need the height nor the pain in my feet ( does anyone seriously enjoy wearing stilletos???)
I have a photo where I revealed at the end of the night my gorgeous thongs to all and it is hilarious! My guests were complaining about their feet and my feet were in utter bliss. My cousin married a month later and did the same reveal thing and her dress was a stunning strapless, beaded, mermaid tail design and no one would have know if she didn't show them. (I am from a family of giants).
I am a thong girl through and through so I figured why not wear them to my wedding.
BTW I bought the thongs first and had my dress designed around them....sad but true:D

My bestie is over 6 feet tall and I don't has ever in lher life worn heels, wore ivory ballet flats. She had a beautiful, traditional gown. It was all good. I wore slippers under my dress at my reception.:D

I like it!:D
Ive heard on many occasions at the end of the weddings I shoot that the brides would have much preffered flats. As much as they loved the glamour 8/10 girls had long dresses and you couldnt see their feet anyway and the fact its at least 4-8 hours they generally find huge discomfort and plenty of blisters.
I vote for whatever you feel best in, but remember how long you'll be in them and whether you can take the pain should you chose to wear heels

Im a size 11 and i plan to wear ballet flats  with a long dress, no one will see anyway, and if they do, they`ll be jelous they didnt do the same
i wore heels *sigh* for the second time in my entire life. i wanted to wear my converse chuck tailors which would have gone awesome since the majority of my dress was black anyway..but the lady in the birdal shop went mad at me when i brought it up..
"you certainly will not!! u can be a lady for one day cant you'
"hey what gives u the impression im not a sassy lady every day?"
"the nintendo tshirt your wearing for one is a give away"
lol..:|
then mum and MIL steps in and agree's...i ended up with blisters the size of mars on the balls of my feet.
do what makes u comfy! dont let anyone push u around!!
