Hi everyone,
I have a tiny two-door hatch back car and am absolutely mystified as to how I will get a baby in and out of the back seat! (And what type of seat to purchase).
Short of buying a new car (!), has anyone else coped with a little car?
Thanks,
Bella

I had a little laser tx3 when DD1 was born and hired a capsule to fit it from the hospital. When I went looking for a forward facing car seat to buy I asked the people I hired the capsule from to recommend some that would fit.
I didn't have too much trouble getting bub in and out as the whole capsule bit was removable.

I own a Lancer 2 door sports coupe and I'm about to have #2. For dd I brought a go safe reversible seat and we put it in the middle. These car seats are smaller than some others. For #2 we have brought another similar until dd fits into the booster we got her. Putting the seat reversed in the middle is great as you can sit next to the seat as you put the bub in. We are putting our toddler to the side as it will be easier.

i had a 90 celica and i couldn't find a car seat to fit, without leavong enough room for the front seats!! (I ended up trading in my car for a four door :o ) We did find one that came close, it was a reversible car seat ( the smallest you can get) and the seat can turn around you put baby in and turn it back! I think it costs around $400 though! Goodluck, I have to say looking for a car seat was one the the hardest purchases to make!!! :D

Thanks for your advice everyone!
I think we might experiment with a reversible baby seat (if it will fit!!) - I'll keep you posted! :)

We had the same problem- and found that NONE of the convertible car seats at all- fit in our 2 door hatchback, , we headed down to our friendly baby store and have tried just about every thing on the market and have found that the smallest capsule made by SaFe & Sound- the baby Unity Capsule- its part of a travel system is the best fit. It requires less clearance than all the others by a lot and doesn't compromise on features, padding etc. It cost us about $260. As its part of a "travel system" it can be incorporated into a pram in place of a bassinet too- so is quite flexible. OK it is only going to last 6 or so months- but I can either sell it or have another baby. :D
Good luck with finding something that'll fit- I know exactly how you feel.

Thanks for your advice, Nicki - I have a feeling we might be buying the same seat!
How did you test the seats to see if they fitted in your car? Did you just measure up, or actually put the shop display models into your car?
Thanks :) ,
Bella
We took the car down to Baby Bunting on a Friday evening when it wasn't too busy ( at least they will have plenty time to help you if you choose a quiet time- it took us over an hour) and tried about 20 different seats and capsules into the car- so thankyou to the nice and VERY patient lady at the store :D . Make sure you check whether you can still get into your seat too- you don't really want to be sitting wedged into the glove box.
Good luck
Nicki
