This thread is dedicated to all babies, toddlers and children who have suffered abuse, neglect or have even died from severe injuries inflicted upon them by the hands of their abusers. There is a group of people on Facebook who support the cause for reforms to laws relating to child abuse, mainly for the UK, but also for other countries. The case of the poor, sweet darling 17 month old toddler who died from horrific abuse almost 2 years ago (Baby P) is one of their causes but there are so many others. I, myself, had only just heard of the baby P case and stumbled upon it quite by accident whilst searching for other “baby” information on google. I read the articles and tributes to Baby P and they have affected me so profoundly that I feel I want to make people more aware of what happens to innocent babies and children in our society and that we need to do something to help protect them and STOP this abuse.
I stumbled upon Baby P’s case almost 3 weeks ago and I still cannot stop thinking about him and shed tears for his suffering and death every day. Unfortunately, he is not the only one, and that breaks my heart even more. Please, if you have a moment, click on this link and put yourself in these babies/children’s shoes. WARNING: this is heartbreaking stuff and I understand some people may not be able to read it, but if you can, please do so, because we need to become more aware of this problem and understand that it DOES happen!. I cried my heart out reading this but also felt the need to share it with anyone who wants to help stop child abuse. It is truly heartbreaking and these babies and children desperately need a voice.

I really dont want to look at that link because it will break my heart too. Poor innocent children suffering at the hands of their 'parents' and 'carers'. It makes me sick that any idiot can be a parent

I am usually opposed to the death penalty, but when babies and children are made to suffer, i say hang the b*****d's.

OMG that is just terrible.
That poor little mite.
Rest in peace, Peter. I am glad you are now in a better place.
Kill those.....animals! No, animals wouldn't even do that to their own young!
So sad.

I'm a British nurse and have looked after lots of abused children in hospital there. At least a child a week is killed by their parents in the UK. The ones I met were normal people, often it was really hard to believe what they had done because they seemed to love their child. I don't believe punishment is the answer - it won't save any lives. What will save lives is government and community support for families under pressure. I think it's really important to build strong communities where people don't have to be alone for long periods of time with only small children for company, where neighbours look out for each other, and where support and friendship is available for those in need. Sign all the petitions you want to, but if you really want to help get to know your neighbours and make sure that nobody is left alone in a situation where they can't cope. Be the person that your neighbour can turn to when they aren't coping.
