Hi all,
just wondering if anyone has used/recommends any of those little cushions with the harness, that you can put onto any chair and use as a high chair? And how old does bub have to be b4 he can go in it. I'm trying to avoid buying a high chair cos it's just another thing to get in the way and have to go into storage later.
Hi Fran
We never bought a high chair with either of our girls, we just used the portable, folding type chair that you strap to a normal chair. These don't take up much space and can usually be bought for under $50 (we bought one for our place and one for Grandma's). There's plenty of different kinds and they can easily be taken on holidays, packed in your luggage. I just found that a high chair was ALWAYS the wrong height (we borrowed an adjustable one for DD1 but hated it). They can sit in it as soon as they can sit up, just like a normal high chair as there is a sturdy back and sides for them to lean on. The one's I've bought do not have the 5 point harness (if that's important to you  ) - they have a 3 point instead (both sides and between baby's legs).
I confess, I used it sitting on the kitchen bench so that I could stand while feeding the girls when they were little babies (you can't leave them unattended though, as they can easily tip the chair over if its not tied down).
Hope this helps (not sure if it was exactly what you're after though)

hope you come back to read this... just wondered if you considered the type that actually attach to the table?? we have a highchair but brought one of these for travelling, visiting, picnic tables, etc. the advantage being that there doesn't need to be a spare chair and bub will always be the right height. these are also around the $50 mark, though we only paid $35 on special.
hope this helps :)
