Hi I am getting my stash sorted for when bub is born. Just looking at a site today though has me worried!

This was copied from another site and is regarding mother-ease rikki covers:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the nature of PUL fabric, these covers will not remain waterproof indefinitely. With proper care, most parents find that a cover used full-time (ie. washed every second day) will last around 4-6 months. That is around the time one child would be expected to be in any particular size. Unfortunately, we cannot provide replacements under warranty for covers that have been used for some months and then begin to fail.

I find this a bit concerning!!
Does this mean any secondhand covers I've got won't last long?

Is it just this brand or all brands (I have BBH covers)

So annoyed!! Why bother buying pul if it has a short lifespan! I'd rather just get woolen covers if that's the case!! Can't afford to waste my money as I want to use them all for 2nd bub too!

Please help!

 I've had some of mine over a year and they still work just as well as the newer ones.

I have BBH, cloth'd up and Bummis.

Oh, I did get some Diaperaps once, the waterproof coating on the inner is starting to crack.
So I do think that it might be brand dependant.

Was that in the pamphlet that came with your covers? I've not had any issues with BBH PUL.

I've had GreenKids nappies go through 3 years and 2 kids of fairly hard wear - and they're only just wearing out now. I think that the lifespan of them would have significantly lengthened if I'd known not to use a hot wash, and hadn't dried them in the clothes dryer as often as I did too. I know that GreenKids and BBs are different - but I can't imagine that the PUL is so very different!

That was not in the pamphlet that came with the Baby beehinds, it was on a website regarding mother-ease rikki covers.

So I'm hoping the same does not apply to BBH, but since pul is pul is pul wondering why one would be different to another?

Maybe it was just the Mother-ease's sneaky way of getting out of having to replace any covers that wore out too quickly! Sounds a bit dodgy actually. Like they are trying to scam people into buying more covers than they need.

I have heaps of AIOs that have a PUL cover - I certainly would expect them to last more than 4-6 months (and they have, of course) and I don't see how that's any different to a PUL cover.

My PUL covers (Baby BeeHinds and Bummis) that are over a year old are still just fine.
