View Full Version : Baby monitor
For all of you with little ones around the same age....how many of you have breathing monitors or are your bubs in your room? I am finding the idea of putting DS in his cot in a room very stressful. SIDS always scared me with DD but it seems to be worse with DS...not sure why maybe because he has a cold and sounds so very snuffly
Thanks in advance

I have the angelcare sound and motion monitor. I mainly got it because I decided to put bubs to sleep on her belly as she seems to sleep so much better. I know it's a big no no for babies to sleep on their tummys but with the monitor I feel much more comfortable. It has alarmed a few times but they have been false alarms... either bubs was in a deep sleep or the monitor was not set up right... each time I have gone in to see bubs looking at me like I am a crazy idiot bursting in to her room while she is sleeping haha. Atleast I know it works

We have one too for the same reason. DS2 is a tummy sleeper so it makes me feel more reassured. It has gone off twice, once while my DH was in the room and another time in the middle of the night. Both were definitely false alarms. Although, as soon as DS2 can roll around by himself, I am planning on taking it out.

Another tummy sleeper here Ds jsut sleeps better this way! He has been in his own room for just over a week now and it is going pretty well (not resorting to bursting in too often to check on his breathing) we got the Oricom 300 monitor (it is a digital one with a bunch of features but no movement sensors) it seems great (much better than the tomee tippee one we have for DD - perhaps I should get one for her too?) It has very little static and you can have it a a bunch of different sensitivity settings - I had it on the high one where you can hear them all the time but changed it last night to the one where it only comes on when they make a noise and we slept all night so I think it might be a good thing that I don't hear every little grumble.
I personally think the false alarms on the pads would stress me out more!

We have the angelcare monitor also I got the one with the temp on it. I need ot know the temp because after having my thyroid out I can;t feel when I am hot exept when I feel sick (overheated)...so dangerous...so I bought the one with movement sensors as well so I know its lal good.
DS2 still sleeps in our bedroom in a bassinett, if your not ready to be apart then he should slep in your room until you are. Do what works for you and your bubs:D
I have one of the Angelcare ones too. I hadn't used the movement part of the monitor at all until last night - she's got a cold so she's so snuffly and I feel better knowing the monitor is on. She's still sleeping in our room at the moment and will probably stay there until she's 6 months or so.
thanks everyone - I will keep DS in our room until am more comfortable i think and when he does go into his room, he will have a monitor
Like PP's we have the Angel Care monitor, have had since birth. DS is nearly two and yet we still use the motion sensor!!! Just a safety blanket for us. We have another bub on the way and will use it then also, HIGHLY recommended.
