Hi everyone
Only posted a few times. We were having problems TTC.
Well I ws two weeks late for AF.
However my cycle all over the place since went off pill - 42days cycles.
So I did a tst this morning and I got :bfp:.
Couldnt believe it.
So my question is - what do i do now - confirm with blood test? Probably wont be able to get into my doctor fora week or so - so should i just go to medical centre to confirm? Also how accurate are the HPT?
Also I thought i wasnt pregnant because I had spotting etc - so I had a fair few drinks over easter - is this going to affect my baby?

Well first of all a big congratulations thats fantastic news:smiliedance:
The home births are said to be extremely accurate- when i was last pregnant my doctor wasnt even going to confirm with blood as she said they are so reliable.
you should go to the doctors anyway to get routine blood tests done and work out what you options are as for what kind of pregnacy plan you are after- going private/public/homebirth...
it porb wont matter not getting in to your doctors for a week- other than doing your head in- i know i didnt believe it till i had blood tests telling me it was so..
with the alcohol thing- i drank before i knew i was pregnant mind you felt sicker than normal after drinking- so my body was trying to tell me something:D- once i found out i didnt touch a drop though- so you should be fine- any luck bub may not have even implanted then-
good luck

:smiliedance:Congratulations!!!
Re the drinking - I read in a few books that it's believed (but can't really be proven) that there is no harm to the embryo from alcohol in the first few weeks until it attaches to the uterus (around 5 weeks I think) as there is no way for the alcohol to get into the bub's blood stream yet. I also drank one night before I knew I was pregnant and so far bub is perfect.
Home pregnancy tests are as accurate as the tests the Dr's use and some wont even retest like lochness said because the test you have already confirmed it.
Usually around 5-8 weeks you should get your routine bloods done to test for immunity to rubella, hep b, std panel, blood group, iron levels etc but don't freak out if you can't get in for a week.
How exciting for you after your trouble TTC. I hope everything goes smoothly and you have a beautiful bub in 36 or so weeks:babydust2:
Congratulations! You don't need to see a doctor at al if you don't want to - you're not sick. You can book straight in with the midwives at your local hospital or birthing centre if you plan to go public. They can do all the blood tests you need, book your scans etc. I rang up my local birthing centre at 5 weeks pregnant and booked in as it's very popular indeed! I only needed to see a doctor to get them to right a request for my 12 week scan, which is optional, and blood tests for that. Everything else can be midwifery only - if that's the way you want to go.
Congrats. HPT's are very accurate.
Just see your GP - no hurry - he/she may or may not do a BT. Have a think about where you want to give birth & if you know where you want to go the GP will give you a referral to the hospital & book you in (or you can go direct to the hospital & do it yourself).
Congratulations!!
My GP didn't do a blood test, the urine tests are pretty accurate. My GP just wrote me a referral so I could book into a private Obstetrician - which I did straight away (and the Ob wanted to see me at 8 weeks gestation). I also got an ultrasound referral from my GP cause I was a little unsure of my dates - I had it at almost 8 weeks.
