Somebody, pleeease tell me how you wean from the bottle??
DD is only having 2 a day, morning and before bed. I got some Nuby soft spouted sippy cups for her to use, tried to give it to her tonight, and the thing is she wasn't upset about it, she thought it was great, having her milkies from this new bottle.. but she p!ssfarted around for about half an hour with it, taking sips here and there, not letting me hold her like I normally would, and when I'd let her go she'd just run around with the sippy cup mucking about. So I tried t give her a bottle instead, and well she had a complete meltdown, hitting the bottle, wouldn't take it. SOO  I tried just a normal cup, and that resulted in major spillage and a change of PJ's. Which resulted in another tantrum... she is now in bed and has finally stopped crying and has gone to sleep without her bottle/milk, and will probably wake up because of that.
Arrgh I f@cked up, I shouldn't have bothered trying to wean her yet. How do I do it? I thought it might be better to do it before the baby comes along, because the baby will possibly be bottlefed and I don't want to have to try and wean her off the bottle when the baby is having bottles, making her jelous of the baby.

How fast were the teats on the bottles? I ask because IMO the Nuby teats are quite fast flowing and when E tried one he just kept sucking into his mouth and then spitting it out (he has 0-3m teats).

I know your DD doesnt have any SN or feeding issues but it still could be too fast for her maybe?

Or it could just be she associates the bottle with bedtime and the sippy cup with playtime.

We had trouble so we went camping! Total change of routine and DD didn't seem to even notice the bottle disappear. I know this won't work for everyone but we gave it a shot and it worked. DD was that exhausted by the end of the day she just wanted to sleep! I just made sure she was getting enough fluids during the day and had enough in her belly before bedtime so she was not hungry or thirsty. Sorry probably no help at all, but this is what worked for us.

I'm thinking the flow might be too fast for her, she did choke on it at one stage, and was getting big mouthfuls of it.
I don't know what else to use  and stupid me went and brought 2 of them

Do it slowly.

I wouldnt be doing the nite time one for some time yet until she starts leading the way.

Its a source of comfort & her routine to go to bed.

Just do it for the mornings.

Get her up, dressed, sitting down with brekky & her new Nuby cup & then do that for another month & see how you go for nites.

I know there are different spouts for different Nuby items & the ones for the cups I cant get G to use but he is fine with a certain type of bottle which is more like a water bottle with a certain spout & he uses these throughout the day because these only allow the milk he sucks for into his mouth whereas those that just flow he cant handle at all.

I have decided to just let her keep the bottle for awhile longer I think.. it's just not worth the hassle and upset
She can keep it till shes 3 as far as I'm concerned now  it's not like anyone sees her, she doesn't go out in public with a bottle or a dummy, only a bedtime and wakeup thing, as I know how some people just can't stand the sight of it  pfft boo to them lol.
