anyone recieved their tax bonus money yet?

hi all, have heard all sorts of theorys as to when and how they are releasing the tax bonus money
such as , by postcodes, by first letter or surname, and when you lodged your tax return etc...

just wondering if anyone has recieved theirs yet, or does anyone really know how they are releasing them, i know im supposed to be patient , but i am just not patient with anything really..lol

have also heard that ATO will not say for sure how they are releasing the money as it would be to much a security risk..

anyone really know?

I havent got mine yet and it's driving me NUTS waiting and checking for it. There isnt anything particular I need the money for *right now*, but i'm still anxious to get it to pay more off some bills etc... None of my family have received their payments yet either.

My tax return was in my account by about the 14th July, and I was REALLY hoping the earlier you got your return back the earlier you would get your payment LOL.

I have heard all those things to ..My hubby got his by mail yesterday and my dd got hers 3 days ago .I also know someone elce that got it over a week ago .I think its just a random thing .Anyways I hope you get it soon

I heard its random.
DH got his by mail on Tuesday even though we checked our bank account details by ringing the number that was in the paper.
I still dont have mine???

does anyone know what happens in regards to your tax accountant? DH thinks that it goes to him and then is forwarded to us as the ATO doesn't have any bank details etc for us. I highly doubt that.. I think if that's the case it will be a cheque in the mail.. yeah?

I didn't realise how lucky I was to have received mine!

I heard it was also random, my DH and I both got ours on the same day aswell as my sister. I think this may have been by chance though?!

We thought it would be deposited into our account as that's how we get our tax refund, but apparently it comes by cheque instead.

also ,i was told if you did you tax online and your refund went in your bank,, the bonus will go in bank and not cheque, anyone know about that??

hello! sorry to thread crash! yeah it's definitely not one per household, just on your individual income from last year's tax return. neither me or DH have ours yet.. can't wait, we're putting up a garden shed lol

MHM- we both did tax returns last year as i had my maternity leave and payout from work to claim tax on for 2007-2008.
This year we do a joint tax return as i havent worked

Yeah i worked last year, and Tristan got his. Tristan and myself have the same accountant , so yeah, don't really know how they are going about sending them out.

My sis told me they were supposed to be doing them alphabetically...not sure if that is correct, but DH's turned up yesterday. Our surname starts with an F, so not sure if that helps...

hypothetically .. if I was connected to someone in the tax dept .. :laughing: I would know .. that a) they are done randomly .. as in .. there is NO WAY to predict who will get theirs first ... it is definitely NOT done alphabetically .. its done by computer.. a system .. its totally random ..

and yes .. if the tax department has your bank account details on record (i.e. if you usually get your refund in your account) .. the money will appear the same way ..

you do NOT have to be working full time to get the bonus .. but you DO have to have paid tax .. as in you PAID tax .. and didn't get a full refund .. if you paid $40 in tax .. and got $40 back - that means you DIDN"T pay tax .. and you wont qualify ..

if you PAID tax .. and didn't earn more than the limit .. you qualify..

and its NOT one per household .. its per tax form .. so if you and your partner BOTH earnt .. and paid tax etc .. then you BOTH qualify - assuming that neither of you earnt too much (as spousal income CAN influence)

I've just heard it could take up to 6wks. I didn't know about the postcode, names etc theory's. Very interesting.
