my ds2 has had nappy rash for a few days which I can't get on top of no matter how many times a day I change his nappy and how much cream I use. Just changed his nappy now and his nappy rash is bleeding. What can I do for the poor little man - I'm desparate......

Have you tried leaving the nappy off for a while to let air dry it out or putting cornflour on it. I found that cornflour worked better than the powder you can buy.

will give the cornflour a go tonight and will definitely try the nappy free time tomorrow - thanks!
Desitin is the answer. It clears it up really quickly. You get it at the chemist. It's a zinc based cream but much stronger than the ones that are sold in the supermarket. I had it recommended to me by a doctor & it worked absolute wonders. No script required.

I give nappy free time in the sun, but be careful they're not rolling around on carpet in case bubs picks up something that could infect the skin.
And Bepanthen is great for healing broken skin, I use it alternately with cornstarch.

thank you all, will try all your suggestions. Everytime I think I'm getting on top of it, he dirties his nappy and we're back to square one. I'm checking his nappy every two minutes to make sure he hasn't dirtied it so he's not sitting in it for a moment longer than he should.

I recommend bathing him with bicarb in the water. Bicarb has great healing properties! I would also suggest a good barrier cream like bepanthin and lots of airing time :)

Oh I know, it's hard isn't it. :( Hope it clears up soon. :hugs::hugs:
What are you using for wipes? Our DS started getting nappy rash when we were using commercial wipes. Then one of our friends told us that the only way they could clear up their DD's horrific nappy rash was cleaning with cooled boiled water with cotton wool and finishing with barrier cream.
We immediately tried this, but because our DS's skin wasn't yet broken we used sorbolene instead of barrier cream - his bot cleared up within 1 day and remains clean and clear as a whistle :fingerscrossed:

try a bit of salt in his bath, lots of nappy off time, and if it comes down to it ask at your chemist for conveen. not sure if its on script or over the counter, but the hospitals use it on kids with stomas. its THE BEST.

Good point! I only use wet washcloths, wipes are shocking on my bubbas!

Nappy free time is the best thing. My DS2 had shocking nappy rash and the only thing that helped it was a few mornings of no nappies. I had a bit of a mess to clean up afterwards but it was definitely worth it

Ditto on the wipes, even the sensitive ones cause red bums at our house. I use cloth wipes with my cloth and cotton wool the few times we use disposables.
Using cold chamomile tea instead of plain water to wash their bottom helps ease the redness. I then dry, cornflour and Simmons paw paw (no petrochemical base)
