Hey guys,
Does anyone else have a fidgety bub? I'm wondering if its something I'm doing wrong?
Ollie fidgets when I'm giving him breast or bottle......squirming, stretching, tossing his little head, pounding breast/bottle with his little mits....ect.
Steven recons its cause I dont hold him as tightly as he does.....Its frustrating...esp in the middle of the night when I just want him to feed and go back to sleep so I can sleep!!!!! Little ratter!! :D
Cheers,

DD2 used to do that too.
She was much happier once she could hold her own bottle and still hates being held while she drinks - she lets DP hold her but not me
I even had to resort to lying her down and propping her bottle up for her at times when she just would not feed while I held her - I never left her alone while doing that but she was happier if I wasn't holding the bottle!!
Even while we bf she would fidget and fuss around no matter what I tried.
Maybe speak to a lactation consultant or your CHN they might have some failsafe ways (I don't think anything is failsafe mind you) to help it but in my case I just had to perservere until she could hold the bottle herself!

Luka fidgeted when he was a tiny bub and now at 11 months he still does! I didn't know babies did that, I thought they would be really peaceful while they were drinking... they are on telly anyway  .
I still avoid BFing him in public because he can put up a bit of a struggle  .
my son zane who is now 9.5 months old is figerty has been since birth. while feeding he holds his secruity blanket that he sleeps with and plays with that. works great for us as he has something in his hands :fingerscrossed:

Hi
First of all - I just wanted to say what a gaorgous little man you have , and secondly what a wonderful name to call him!!!!!!!
Have you tried wrapping him. My Oli loves being wrapped and it's part of his routine. Once wrapped he now settles down and knows i mean business:thumbsup:
Not all babes like it though -
Recently Oliver was squirming more than normal when feeding especially of a night time if he'd wake. I feed him in the cot once he's down for the night and it was near impossible to feed him. Mum suggested trying a faster flowing teat and to my supprise it was what he needed. The poor little man couldn't get the milk fast enough and was getting frusterated.
has he got wind?? Try a few different things. Hope you get some well needed sleep soon and that he settles for you.

Mine does the same! Have to feed her in her cot most times...she will take a full bottle this way and then get her out to burp her! She fusses and carries on if I hold her to feed her at home in the lounge, when I hold her in her room she is generally good and when I am out she is good too! I just don't get it...

my 10 month old likes to figit too. this week it has been "lets play with my toes" and "try to put my finger up mummy's nose" while i have been feeding her her bottle. i switched to a faster teat a few months back and she can't go any faster. some babies like to wriggle and move. sometimes i have to sit her up on my lap and face her towards the tv so she can watch and drink. at night we have the tv off and the room dark and she generally goes back to sleep fairly quickly. on the nights that she fusses we put her in bed with us and feed her. then let her sleep a couple of hours with us. i think she partly wakes about 3.30 - 4am because she is cold (she won't stay under the blankets) so we give her a nice warm bottle and a snuggle with mum and dad and we can generally make it to 6.30/7am before we get up.
Yep... ds2 is 13 months and has always fidgeted at the boob :shame:
i make sure his nails are nice and short :D otherwise i look like ive been attacked by a cat :p
