well that pretty much summed it up! LOL...basically our lease is up on the GCoast in 4 weeks...my DP's initial training starts in June so thats at least 3 months my dd and I would have to live in my bickering old parents cluttered house (last time i stayed there me and my 10 month old dd slept in a room squished in with two of my older sisters storage) I am very eager to avoid having to live there plus my parents are always at each other and its very stressfull and they live out of town so its hard to escape! LOL. I know it would probably be better to hang on the coast untill my dp has finished his initial training just in case he decides it's not for him (which is a small risk as he is pretty certain)...but we would have to move soon anyway for job opportunities as there is nothing available to us here atm...we are not sure if he will end up staying in wagga after his initial training or in sa (we will find out in a week) so I guess I would just find a short term lease in either of those locations 3-6 months...
has anyone done this? what are your thoughts? appreciate it http://www.s8.createphpbb.com/australiandefen/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif PEACE!
You're aware that there is a chance he may not like it.. not necessarily the whole army thing but the training itself my be too much .. if you're up for the change and a new adventure go for it.
btw the smiley didn't work .. but not a good idea to use their smilies for other forums only because I think when you do that, you're using their bandwidth that they pay for.

yeh, although I dont think he will change his mind, he always follows through with everything he does. But even if something changes we still need a change and we would prob end up moving anyway, although we would prob need to go somewhere more built up for a while so I guess adelaide or something.
Guess I am just feeling pretty desperate to avoid my folks LOL, plus I have lived on the coast my whole life and I need a change of scene for a while.
AH whoops with the emotions...its still so very tempting to use them tho LOL.
anyway anything could happen over the next few weeks so I guess I'll just chill till then

Hiya
Could you ask for a shorter lease....just until he's finished training? We had the same situation when DH was at training and just asked our agent for a month to month and they agreed, there is some law about them not being about to kick you out. Maybe check with the tenancy tribunal

what trades your DP going in as??? Im just curious lol
Even if he doesnt change his mind you know he still has to actually 'pass' recruit training to stay in right?,Im sure he will but it might just be something to think about before you move anywhere before he finishes recruits because if he does happen to fail parts of the course he will get backcoursed, also, because when hes finished the RAAF will pay for you to be moved, people will come and pack everything up for you bar clothes and toiletries and they will give you a removal allowance (we got about 3 grand) but if you move prior to his grad they wont pay for anything and you wont be entitled to any rental assistance from the ADF while hes at recruits so you will have to pay full rent and they dont get very much money while their at 1RTU so he wont be able to help you out much.
Just something to think about.

hello everyone again
Thanks for ur suggestions. I loved the idea to ask the real estate about the month to month setup, unfortunately we will need to get out anyway, our flatmate (my fil) is moving for his job (on a fishing boat) when the lease is up and w/o him we would be paying $550/week (waaayy too much money for rent!) we havent got anyone to ask in for 2-3 months either
So I am going to see if I can find short term accomadation on the coast while my dp is away (o thats right he is going in as an AEA...for the person who asked). Otherwise I will just suck it up and live with the folks 4 a while...I'll have to keep reminding myself that it's only 12 weeks! LOL they are really not horrible ppl, they just stress out and argue alot and there really is no room for me there, it would be ok if they had a caravan or something or a cave LOL.
Thats ok with the df relocation assistance even if things dont go according to plan we will still have money saved to cover moving costs anyway because either way in 2-3 months we will need to move, prob to the city LOL just gotta hang on for a little bit longer (its the last few weeks of waiting which are the hardest, well 4 me anyway!)
Thanks again for hearing my frustrations LOL
rock on
